In India many types of crimes can be seen in day to day
life such as murder,robbery,extortion,homicide, drug
trafficking, rape, terrorism ,corruption etc.

Crime against women include rape, molestation.
ëolice records show high incidence of crimes against
women in India. The National Crime Records Bureau
reported in 1998 that the growth rate of crimes against
women would be higher than the population growth rate
by 2011 .
 
K un 1961, the Government of undia passed the Dowry
Prohibition Act, making the dowry demands in wedding
arrangements illegal. However, many cases of dowry-related
domestic violence, suicides and murders have been reported.
K A 1997 report claimed that at least 5,000 women die each
year because of dowry deaths, and at least a dozen die each
day in 'kitchen fires' thought to be intentional. The term for
this is "bride burning" and is criticized within undia itself.

A survey conducted in 2003-2004 by Narcotics


Control Bureau found that undia has at least four
million drug addicts. un an annual government
report in 2007, the United States named undia
among 20 major hubs for trafficking of illegal drugs
along with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Burma.
   
Cases of spam, computer hacking, cyber
stalking and email fraud are rampant in
undia.The unformation Technology Act 2000
was passed by the Parliament of undia in
May 2000, aiming to curb cyber crimes and
provide a legal framework for e-
commerce transactions. ut is not very
effective in dealing with several emerging
cyber crimes like cyber
harassment, defamation, stalking and so
on".
