MA1 – SCIENCE MUSEUM

The institution of Science Museum was been


about a century and a half. It was an idea of
Prince Albert because he saw the Great
Exhibition of 1851, held in Hyde Park. The first
building was the South Kensington Museum
that now is part of the Victoria and Albert
museum, its nickname was Brompton Boilers
because it's was very dirty. It was opened in
1857 and, with a large history, it was gained the
independence in 1909.
Today the Museum is very important of the science in the world because it has got historic
collections, awe-inspiring galleries and amazing exhibitions

The Science museum is in Exhibition Road, South


Kensington, London SW7 2DD. Near the museum
there is the South Kensington Station. In front of the
Science Museum there is the Natural History
Museum. The Vicoria & Albert’s museum and Hyde
Park was near the Science Museum too.

It's normally open from 10.00 - 18.00 every day, but
now, during the school holidays, the museum opening
til 19.00. The last entry normally is 17.15 but when it
happens the exception the last entry is 18.15. It isn't
open in 24th to 26th of December. Last entry 17.15.

The entry of the science museum is free like almost all museums in the city, but If you
entry in the IMAX 3D cinema, simulators, guides and some special exhibitions you will
have to pay.
