 PREFACE

In most advanced notions, education is increasingly viewed as a

primary means for solving problems, indeed, some cases, the future
welfare of nations has been placed on the shoulders of the schools and
universities. To make the institutions succeed in doing their
responsibilities, many tools are mainly needed. One of them is a book.
Language Testing is the book intended to prepare for both the students
and lecturers or teachers with the knowledge of the concept of evaluation
in term of language. By having the book, they could be able to learn the
concept and apply on their tasks. The students will have knowledge about
language testing that will be used to evaluate their study. The lecturer or
teacher will use the books as guide lines when they want to evaluate their
students progress in learning the language.
The writer wish expressed his great thanks to the God, the Great,
the Merciful and Beneficent. In completing the book, suggestions,
assistance, criticism, and guidance are from many persons. The writer,
therefore, would like to thank them, especially, he would thank to the
Head of Educational Office of North Sumatra Province and his staffs,
Rector of University of Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah and her staffs,
and his partner Drs. Salamuddin Selian, M.Hum.
At last, it is hoped that the book can give any contributions to
enhance the quality of language teaching.
