Instructions and 1. Book Intro- We are going to read My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother procedures: about Patricia Polacco. This story is about Tricia and her older brother. How do you think she feels about her older brother? (He’s mean, she doesn’t like him etc.) They live with their Grandmother. What do you call your Grandmother? (Grandma, Nana, Nan, Gran etc) Read first page together. Discuss babushka and that she is from a different country so they call her Bubbie like we call our grandparents different things. 2. We are going to make connections as we read and record them on our My Personal Connections Worksheet. 3. Why do we make connections? (Better readers, helps us understand) Read Directions on Work Sheet. 4. How do we make text to self connections (review). Pass out Resource sheets and read aloud. As you’re reading, think about these questions to help you make meaningful text-to-self connections. Some of us already made a connection because we discovered that we call our Grandmother’s by different names because they come from a different country.
