Photography Sketchbook Assignment

Directions:
On the following paper are two sets of images created by the photographer David
Shrigley. His images are paired/juxtaposed in order to create specific narratives and
concepts. Answer the following in reference to his work. (20pts)

1. David Shrigley is trying to communicate specific ideas by pairing the seemingly


disparate images together. Based on the visual clues that Shrigley presents us with
in the photographs, what do you think that each pair of images is about? Explain
what gives you the visual clues?

2. Do you feel that these are well-composed, technically proficient images? Explain
why?

3. Compare the photographs by David Shrigley to that of Doug Aitken…how are the
images similar and different?
