HIV Reservoirs Conference to Focus on Hope for a Cure

The Fifth International Workshop on HIV Persistence and Drs Lafeuillade and Stev
enson offer advance information about the general topic to be discussed during t
he upcoming West Indies workshop of St. Maarten scheduled for December 6-9, 2011

Toulon, France, May 28, 2011 -- Doctor Alain Lafeuillade and Dr. Mario Stevenson
are pleased to announce publication of a joint scientific paper that identifies
the general topic of the upcoming Fifth International Workshop on HIV Persisten
ce during Therapy scheduled for December 6-9, 2011 in St Maarten (West Indies).
Since 2003 this workshop are become the reference scientific meeting on HIV rese
rvoirs, HIV Persistence and Strategies towards an HIV Cure. The next December HI
V Reservoirs Conference will focus on hope and celebrate victories already achie
ved in the field. It will definitely open a new era of research towards a cure,
as this goal has recently been put in the front burner by agencies like NIH (Nat
ional Institutes of Health), ANRS (French Agency for AIDS Research) and IAS (Int
ernational AIDS Society).
Dr. Lafeuillade is chairman of the symposium and Dr. Stevenson is associated wit
h the Leonard M Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. The paper is tit
led "The Search for a Cure for Persistent HIV Reservoirs". The text of the publi

During a recent interview with Dr. Lafeuillade, he reported, "In this paper, we
describe the potential strategies towards an HIV infection cure and this will be
the main issue of our December workshop."
Workshop participants are preparing for a comprehensive and useful series on sem
