Our Philosophy On Stopping A Spread Offense Team

Force the QB to throw under pressure Maintain gap responsibility and pursuit discipline Confuse the QB by disguising and changing coverage's, fronts, and blitz packages Force the QB to read our coverages pre-snap Shut down the run game by maintaining gap responsibility, and making the offense one dimensional
Vs. a Spread Team, We.

Feel that we can dictate to the offense what they can and cannot run Do not want to be read and reacting, we want the offense to stay off balance Want the offense anticipating what we are going to do next Want to send as much controlled pressure as possible Want to tackle very well in the open field
Terminology
Sky- tells us that we are showing cover 3, but rolling to cover 4 with the bandit and free safety. Will ILB has hook/curl/flats weak Banjo- when an OLB is called on to blitz but is responsible for a player in man coverage. The OLB will call banjo to either tell the free safety to take his man or banjo the blitz to the inside linebacker. Cover 1- man free coverage. We are man underneath and our free safety is playing centerfield. Cover 4- quarters (1/4) coverage. Cover 3- three deep zone coverage Combo two defenders combo-ing one offensive receiver, usually with zone coverage to the other side. Man- true man to man coverage. Claw- tells the Will linebacker to slide out to 4x4 Mike, Sam and Will- our three inside linebackers Spur and Bandit- our two outside linebackers

Sky tell us that we are going to show cover three and on the snap roll to cover 4 (quarters) Free safety will slide to the strong hash Bandit will sprint to the weak hash.

In cover 4 Mike will not rush, he will settle in the middle of the field. Bandit will move back as a true safety. Will plays weak hook/ curl to flats.
