Come November and children eagerly look forward to Childrens Day. We all fondly remember the celebrations that we had during our school days. Unfortunately, a section of children the less privileged are deprived of their share of fun n frolic. AOF fills this void by making possible celebrations across the country at its 64 NGO Sunrise partners. This year too, AOF ensured that more than 5000 children across 64 locations of India have their share of fun time. Amway employees & Amway Business Owners joined children by singing, dancing and playing games. They shared snacks together and shared smiles and laughter throughout the day. An innovative and absorbing display of skill and talent was witnessed at a dance competition at the Shah Auditorium in New Delhi. But what made this dance show special is that the performers were all visually challenged. The assumption that visually challenged people can excel in sedentary activities alone was disrupted when the Amway Opportunity Foundation & All India Confederation of the Blind organized this nationwide dance competition. Over 110 competitors from 15 institutions across India congregated at the auditorium in Delhi. Open to both boys and girls, the competition consisted of both solo and group dance performances. Dance forms included classical, folk and freestyle. The performances were adjudged by a jury of eminent dance specialists. Mr. William S. Pinckney, Chairman AOF & Mr. Mangat Ram Singhal, Minister for Social Welfare in the Delhi Government, handed over prizes to the winners. Continuing its quest for a healthier India, ABO doctors partnered with Amway Opportunity Foundation to conduct health check up camps for the forgotten children. These camps were held at Kolkata, Rajkot, Surat, Solapur, Pimpri, Rewa and New Delhi. As many as 1500 children benefited from this noble gesture. We salute all ABO doctors for their kind gesture. As 2010 drew to a close, South hit the high note with 3 back-to-back fund raisers. ABOs at Trichy, Mangalore and Coimbatore raised funds by holding musical evenings and other types of variety entertainment to do their bit for the betterment of underprivileged children of their cities. In all about 2 lakhs net were raised from these three fund raisers. It couldnt have been a better way to end 2010 than on a social note. On the 27th, 28th and 29th December, Team West set up three physiotherapy centres - one at Raipur, one at Nasik and the final one at Aurangabad. The physiotherapy centres are equipped with equipments like traction unit, sliding chair, exercisers, vestibular balls etc. All these equipments are vital in the treatment of children with mental and physical disabilities
