1. Connect power cords to the shelf and turn on power. 2. Check that the shelf ID is unique and in the range 01 to 98. If not, set the ID:

Front rail
a. Remove the left ear cover on the DS4243. b. Press and hold the U-shaped tab above the LEDs until the first digit blinks. c. Press the tab until the correct number is displayed. d. Repeat steps b and c for the second digit. e. Press and hold the tab until the second number stops blinking. f. Power cycle the shelf to make the new shelf ID take effect.

LIFTING HAZARD
Important:
For hot-swappable FRUs: Always consult http://now.netapp.com for current field-replaceable unit (FRU) replacement procedures. Adding external storage or using FC: You must order and use SFP modules on your system, if you are connecting external FC storage devices or using FC with the system.
Important:
For hot-swappable power supplies: System shuts down two minutes after you remove a power supply. Disk drive Power supply
Attention: Disk drives are fragile. Do not handle them except when replacing failed disk drives or moving them to a new chassis.

4. Firmly push up the cam handle to finish seating the controller module in the system, and then push the cam handle to the closed position and tighten the thumbscrew beneath the cam handle. 5. Reattach the cable management arms by screwing them into the holes in the cam handle. 6. Complete the boot process. IF your system has a single controller module, plug in the power supply and turn on the power. IF your system is in an active/active configuration, give back the node by completing the following substeps: a. Enter the following command from the partner console: cf giveback b. On the console of the newly installed controller module, select Normal Boot (option 1) from the displayed menu to boot Data ONTAP.
