2011-2012
Textbook: Mathematics, Concepts AGS Publishing This book will be our guide throughout the year. Many assignments will be questions directly from the book. You will be required to bring this book to every class. We will cover almost all of the twelve chapters: Chapter 1 Whole Numbers Chapter 2 Algebra Arithmetic with Letters Chapter 3 Decimals Chapter 4 Divisibility and Factoring Chapter 5 Fractions and Rational Numbers Chapter 6 Ratios, Proportions, and Percents Chapter 7 Solving Equations Chapter 8 Integers and the Real Number Line Chapter 9 Exponents and Roots Chapter 10 Using Geometry Chapter 11 Graphing Chapter 12 Data, Statistics, and Probability Breaking Down the Course: In the beginning of each class, we will start off with a little warm-up that will cover previous lessons and lead into the next lesson. Some warm-ups will be collected for a grade. During the lesson, my goal is to make sure that you understand not only how to do the steps, but why we do the steps. There will be a lot of discussion during the lesson and you are expected to participate. It is important to me to know what your thoughts are and why you think something so that I can help you if need be. After the new lesson is given, if there is time left over, you will be able to work on your homework. There will be homework every day to give you enough practice and allow me to make sure that no one falls behind. There will also be a quiz in the middle of each chapter to review the first couple sections. This will help us review, as well as prepare for the chapter test. In conclusion all grades will come from, warm-ups, homework, quizzes, and tests.

Grading: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. We will follow the district grading scale (posted on bulletin board) Your semester exam is worth 20% of your final grade Warm-ups, homework, quizzes, and tests will be worth the other 80% Each point, no matter what type of assessment, is worth the same value Your grades will be posted by I.D. numbers on the bulletin board
