Months of the Year Lesson Plan


Objectives:

To know, read and spell the months of the year To be able to put the months of the year in numerical order To talk about their own and their classmates birthdays in terms of the months of the year

Learning styles addressed: auditory, linguistic, logical, kinaesthetic, visual, intrapersonal, interpersonal

Materials: cake cut outs, months of the year strips, sticky tack, paper, months of the year worksheet, about 4 small calendars. Procedure: 1) Introduce the months of the year. Show the Ss a calendar and learn the names of the months. 2) Split the class into groups and give each group a calendar and a lined piece of paper to write on. Have them answer questions about the calendar on the piece of paper. a. How many days does _____________ have? b. Usually months have _________ (number) days. c. The shortest month is _______________. 3) Now the Ss they are going to learn which months their classmates have a birthday in. Give each S a cake cut out and have them fill it out and color it. Then have them tack in on the board under their birthday month. a. Illicit questions and answers 4) Hand out the months of the year worksheet. Let the Ss cut and paste the months in correct numerical order on their worksheet. 5) Review and dismiss.
