Objective: One way traffic light controllers having three signal Red, Green and Yellow.
Specification: This traffic light designed for one way having three signals Red, Green and Yellow. Red is on for stop and yellow is on for ready to go/stop and green for go. This circuit is basic circuit for traffic controlling if we want to control four way road then we have required four circuit. So we can say that this circuit is unit basic unit for controlling in this circuit we control red , green and yellow light. We ON red led for 60 second and yellow light for 20 second and red light for 30 second. RED light -60 second GREEN LIGHT-40 second YELLOW light-20 second PATH VIEW:

4020 Description: The HEF4020B is a 14-stage binary counter with a clock input
(CP), an overriding asynchronous master reset input (MR) and twelve fully buffered outputs (Q0, and Q3 to Q13). The counter advances on the HIGH to LOW transition of CP. A HIGH on MR clears all counter stages and forces all outputs LOW, independent of the state of CP. Each counter stage is a static toggle ip-op. A feature of the device is its high speed (typ. 35 MHz at VDD = 15 V). It operates over a recommended VDD power supply range of 3 V to 15 V referenced to VSS (usually ground). Unused inputs must be connected to VDD, VSS, or another input. It is also suitable for use over the full industrial (40 C to +85 C) temperature range.

Feature of 4020:
1. High speed operation 2. Fully static operation 3. 5 V, 10 V, and 15 V parametric ratings 4. Standardized symmetrical output characteristics 5. Operates across the full industrial temperature range 40 C to +85 C 6. Complies with JEDEC standard JESD 13-B e. Amplitude modulation f. Used in PLL (PHASE LOCKED LOOP) g. Led flasher circuit h. Frequency multiplier i. Pulse width modulation j. Sweeping output frequency siren:

Circuit Diagram of Traffic Light Controller:

Principle and Working: This circuit is self explanatory by its name, and can be used to control traffic in public places, or to demonstrate traffic rules in traffic-parks. IC2, which is heart of the circuit, is a decade counter. In this counter for every pulse fed to pin-14, potential keeps shifting from D1 to D9 in cyclic order. IC1 is used as a pulse generator and generates pulses in regular configurable intervals. These intervals can be changed by varying VR1. The circuit is designed in such a way that out of nine pulses, relay RL1 remains triggered for 4 pulses, relay RL2 for 1 pulse and relay RL3 for remaining 4 pulses. Since D1-D4 provide current to T1, T1 is on whenever there is potential on any diode D1 to D4, which keeps relay RL1 triggered. Similarly other diodes are responsible for RL2 and RL3 triggering. Red, Yellow and Green lamps can be connected to the relays RL1, RL2 and RL3 respectively to complete your mini traffic light
