Bar Schedule 8666 v5.04

2000-2007 Chris Buczkowski

The values for minimum radius and end projection, r and P respectively, as specified in Table 2, shall apply to a The dimensions in parentheses are the free dimensions. If a shape given in this table is required but a different the possile deviations, the shape shall be drawn out and given the shape code 99 and the free dimension shall parentheses. The length of straight between two bends shall be at least 4d, see Figure 6. Figure 4, Figure 5 and Figure 6 should be used in the interpretation of ending dimensions.

NOTE 1. The length equations for shape codes 14, 15, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36 and 46 are approximate a is greater than 45, the length should be calculated more accurately allowing for the difference between the spe and the true length measured along the central axis of the bar. When the bending angles approach 90, it is pre code 99 with a fully dimensioned sketch. NOTE 2. Five ends or more might be impractical within permitted tolerances NOTE 3. For shapes with straight and curved lengths (e.g. shape codes 12 13, 22 and 33) the largest practical production of a continuous curve is 400 mm. See also Clause 10.

NOTE 4. Stock lengths are available in a limited numer of lengths (e.g. 6m, 12m). Dimension A for shape code as indicative and used for the purpose of calculating total length. Actual delivery lengths should be by agreemen

British Standard Specification (BSI) This spreadsheet has been developed to comply with BS 8666:2005. Support Support for registered users of this spreadsheet may be obtained by email from: info@structural-engineering.org.u Additional Information Refer to the accompanying README.TXT file for additional information.

ASSUMPTIONS/FURTHER INFORMATION 1) Shape codes 47/51/63 (links) - The total length of the bar is calculated using the formulae to minimize C and D. 2a) Shape code 56 is assumed to be a link with E and F having minimum straight lengths of 10d. 2b) Shape code 56, it is assumed dimension F = E. 3) Shape code 64 - is assumed to be a link with F being equal to minimum end projection with a 10d straight. 4) Shape code 41 - if this shape is used as a link then dimension E should have a minimum 10d straight. 5) Shape code 21 - if this shape is used as a closer for shape code 47 (i.e. used as a link) then the minimum end p entered manually. Do not used the autofill function (see below). 6) Shape code 33 - C assumed to be not less than P with a minimum 10d straight.

USING BAR SCHEDULE Multiple Schedules When you have completed a schedule, scroll the sheet to the bottom and click on the New Sheet button to start a Clearing Cell Contents To clear the contents of a cell, right click your mouse on the cell and then click Clear Contents.

Scheduling The type and grade of reinforcement supported are H, A, B, C, S and X as indicated in clause 4, BS 8666:2005. Where a bar mark is revised, a reference letter may be entered into the column labelled 'Rev letter'. Where applicable, the free variable dimension for a bar is shown in white. Bar diameters 6mm and 50mm are non-preferred and will be displayed in red. The total length of a bar will be displayed in red if it exceeds 12m. The entire cell will colour red if the total bar leng Bar dimension messages Less than 'P' in table 2 Less than 2r+6d

Shape Code 99 There are a number of ways to deal with shape code 99. In each method, complete your bar mark row and enter dimension 'A' column. Method 1 Leave a couple of blank rows below your bar mark 99 and insert a sketch (picture file) prepared in a CAD progr the paragraph below on how to insert picture files. Picure files can be in many formats but .wmf, .jpg, .gif, .b common. Method 2 Leave a couple of blank rows below your bar mark 99. Print off your schedule and draw a dimensioned sketch o dimensions 'A' to 'E' columns.

Inserting sketches and text boxes The procedure for inserting shape code 99 sketches and text boxes is similar. Text boxes are useful for calling up 500m of H12 bars supplied in random, straight lengths. Prepare your bar schedule leaving some blank row(s) for your sketch or text box. Using the SAVE button on the spreadsheet, save your schedule(s) to a bardata spreadsheet file. Open the bardata spreadsheet and remove the sheet protection by clicking on Tools>Protection>Unprotect She For inserting a sketch (picture file), click on Insert>Picture>From File. For inserting a text box, click on the Drawing icon on your toolbar. The Drawing toolbar will now appear at the bot which you should click the Text Box icon. Use this to draw a text box.

Deleting bar marks The Mark button provides the facility to mark a bar mark deleted but retain it within the schedule as a revision. Del indicated by a line through the bar data. To mark a bar deleted, click on the row of the bar to be deleted then click the Mark button. To return a bar marked deleted back to normal, click on the row of the deleted bar then click the Mark button.

OUTPUT Printing Click on the Print button to print the current schedule. Click on the Print All button to print all the schedules. Data files Click on the Save button to export your schedules to an Excel workbook suitable for emailing or data storage. Cho workbook and the folder it will be saved in. Default name is bardata.xls which can be changed. The sheets in the nominal protection without a password. To unprotect, go to Tools > Protection > Unprotect Sheet. To password pro first then go to Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet and enter a password. Attach your workbook to an e-mail for transmission to relevant parties. Data stored in a data file can be imported back into Bar Schedule for further processing. Click on Open and retriev your bar schedules.

SHORT CUTS AutoFill bar marks To autofill bar marks: Hold Ctrl button down and press B to fill the column with bar marks starting from 01. If a nu cell, then Ctrl B will fill the column with bar marks increasing from that number. AutoFill bar type To autofill bar type: Hold Ctrl button down and press H to choose reinforcement type H for all barmarks. AutoFill 'No. of Mbrs' To autofill no. of mbrs: Hold Ctrl button down and press N. If a number is entered into the top cell prior to using the that number. If the cell is clear the column will fill with '1'. AutoFill Date To autofill date: Hold Ctrl and Shift buttons and down and press D. The current date will be entered. AutoFill minimum end projection bend dimensions For shape codes 11 and 21, to automatically enter the minimum end projection values for the bends, hold Ctrl but while on the row of the bar mark. This produces similar bars to the obsolescent shape codes 34 and 35 in BS 446 for the general case (i.e. min 5d straight). Freeze Column Headings To freeze the bar schedule column headings on the screen, hold Ctrl button down and press F To unfreeze, repeat the above while on the schedule sheet. Summing Values To sum a row or column of values, click in the first cell and drag the mouse holding the left button. The result appe bottom of the screen. To sum non aligned values, click in the first cell, then holding Ctrl button down, click in the se cells. If the status bar is not displayed, go to View menu and click on Status Bar. If the bar is switched on and the s click on the status bar and then click on Sum. Entering Numerical Data

Expressions may be entered in place of numbers in cells requiring numerical input. e.g. To enter an expression in Click on the relevant cell. Enter the following: =4+8*3 - This expression evaluates to 28. You will see the expres the cell or if you have the formula bar showing (go to View menu and click Formula Bar).

IMPORTING DATA Data may be copied and pasted from other applications into Bar Schedule. In order to do this, the protected cells m off' and 'Length of each bar' columns cannot be pasted to.
