Wireless Baby-Safety Monitoring

Working & Features

Block Diagram A Baby Safe Monitoring System is proposed. It consists of creating an environment for a baby or infant that would take some of the responsibility off the parents. It provides soothing options for when the baby is crying such as playing lullabies and rocking the cradle. Also with the baby monitoring system, it allows the parents to know what is going on with the environment through the personal computer. At the personal computer, much will be displayed such as room temperature, audio level, live video and other information to let the parent know what is going on. Some of the features include Rocking the Cradle Playing Soothing Lullabys

Working A microcontroller based board is used at the heart of the system. 8 Channel analog to digital converter ADC 0808 is used to interface analog sensors. A sound sensor (microphone) is used to collect sound level feedback. A Load Cell (15 KG) or a tilt switch can be used to sense weight change on the cradle or change in cradle tilt. A stepper motor is used to move the rocking arm. The stepper speed and swing of the rocking arm can be changed at any time. The microcontroller board can optionally be interfaced to a PC in case remote monitoring and control is required. A RF receiver is also connected to the microcontroller for setting the parameters remotely. In case the user is present near the cradle (proximity of about 100 meters) the RF remote control can be used to set the parameters. In case the user is not near the cradle, a GSM modem (mobile phone) can be used to control the parameters. User can receive the feedback and change the parameters simply be sending and receiving SMS. The PC is also used to playback soothing music to calm down the child.
