ABSTRACT

This final project discusses the design of Internet network-based Local Area Network in SMP Negeri 1 Bulukumpa which is expected to add insight and knowledge of teachers and students about Internet networks, and governance - how to operation of existing network devices into a better direction. Design of LAN-based network includes a physical network construction and software installation. In designing the network in the laboratory using a star topology, because the topology has many advantages. Including, more flexible, centralized control, collision is rare and almost none at all, and easy network management. The hardware used in the design of this network is UTP cable with a length of cable is 120 M which very efficient in the development of network speed of 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps. Also used of switches as a connecting device between computers to each other and connecting the computers to the modem, also able to divert the path, filter the information to and from specific destinations. And the ADSL modem as a link to the Internet network. The test results of network devices, modems, and connect the PC to the modem shows that the measurement information is Reply and packet : Sent = 4, Received = 4, lost: 0%. This indicates that the installation of the devices in working on has to be connected to the Internet network. Then on the next network design will be developed using server and based WI-FI, so as to facilitate users in data retrieval.
