ABSTRACT

All bachelor degree students are required to undergo industrial training for 20 weeks

as part of their curriculum to complete their 4 year course for the Bachelor of Manufacturing

Engineering. The attachment will be during the 6th semester of their study. During the 20

weeks period of training, students will be supervised and monitored their training by two

nominated supervisors.

For my industrial training, I did at United Plantation Berhad Ulu Bernam Engineering

Department which situated at Ulu Bernam. It is an oil palm extracting company. This

company has been established since 1906. The factory was established on 1932. This factory

process about 80 tons of fresh fruit bunches per hour. This company also has it own refinery

which is Unitata Berhad.

I was assigned to the workshop section which my supervisor is Mr. Periannan and my

academic supervisor is Mr. Sivarao. For the first month I learn about the basic operation in

manufacturing. That includes the use of oxyacetylene cutter and arc weld. Then for the second

month I was assigned to the locomotive section where I learn about the operation of

locomotive, hydraulic system and gearing system.

Third month I was assigned to the factory section which I was able to learn about the

operation of producing the crude oil palm and kernel. On the forth month I was assigned to

the mechanical section where I learn about tractors, heavy machinery and overhaul engine.

For the final month I was assigned to the machinery section where was able to sharpen my

skill in operating the lathe machine, learn about shaping and milling machine.

Firstly I like to thank you to my family for allowing me to take Bachelor Degree in

Manufacturing Engineering. Then my gratitude goes to both my academic supervisor and

industrial supervisor for the guidance trough out the industrial training. I would like to thanks

to the United Plantations Berhad Ulu Bernam Engineering Department for allowing me to join

the company temporally for my industrial training.

My gratitude goes to the Chief Engineer and Assistance Engineer. Then I would like to

thank to the Dean of the Manufacturing Faculty and all the staff that involve directly or

indirectly in the industrial training. Finally I was able to complete this industrial training and

the final report with the help of the instructor that is the employers of the company.
