Humanitys Promise

The Problem As We See It

The Youth of Today - The Promise of Tomorrow

Billions of dollars have been spent in aid in Africa over the last half of a century which has had many people pondering one of the greatest problems of our time the failure to end poverty and the deaths of millions of children. All this despite the tens of billions of dollars and the sacrifices of aid workers, NGOs and inspiring individuals! This has led Humanitys Promise to The people, conclude that a different approach is required. The people who have received the aid these last 50 years have learned to expect it, manipulate it and depend on it. As a result we have governments that dont do enough for their people and adults who have lost their will to learn and fend for themselves. Our attention needs to be diverted away from actions that do not bear fruit and towards planting new ideas, new skills and new training for the next generation the youth of today.

Our Plan - The Team It Up Program

Sports is a great equalizer that creates a strong sense of belonging and all of us involved with Humanitys Promise were at one time or another involved in sports in some way. When we put on that uniform, it gave us a sense of belonging and a sense of pride in our team. When we stepped on that field or court, we We realize that we need to instill were determined not to let our team down. Our coaches taught us to be leaders on the field which ultimately in these youth a sense of respontransferred to our activities off the field. Humanitys Promise has plans to work with youth at 12 schools in Kenya where we will create soccer teams. These youth will have proper uniforms, soccer balls, runners and/or soccer cleats and a proper field with goal posts. Humanitys Promise already has enough uniforms to outfit 104 teams, over 3,300 soccer balls and in excess of 1,000 pairs of shoes with more arriving at our Calgary facilities weekly.

sibility, accountability and how together they can all achieve more.

Humanitys Promise also has plans to invite successful business men and women to travel to Kenya to teach these youth soccer skills, leadership skills, management skills, relationship skills and financial skills. We realize that we need to instill in these youth a sense of responsibility, accountability and how together they can all achieve more. While these 12 teams would be our pilot project we shall be expanding our program across Kenya and other countries as time and financial resources allow.

Our Vision and Hope

Our Vision at Humanitys Promise is that 20 to 30 years from now these youth will be playing major roles in every aspect of African society especially education, business, health care and politics. We want to grow leaders that believe in their country and their people. We want to grow leaders that have a strong, unbending passion for service. We want to grow leaders who are compassionate to those less fortunate. We want to grow leaders who are authentic and strong in character who can harness and leverage their resources on the world stage for the betterment of their people.

Why We Need Your Help

Humanitys Promise has done a considerable amount of work already to gather what we need to implement our plan. We have established strong connections and relationships at the 12 schools and one of our board members is a Kenyan citizen who has long been active in the humanitarian field. One of our Canadian born founders has lived and worked in Kenya for two and a half years and has developed strong relationships within several communities. We lack the funds to kick-start this initiative. A minimum of $35,000 will allow us to get these goods to Kenya, get a reliable vehicle, prepare fields, construct goal posts and begin the program which will include a meal for the youth at each game.

Towards a Better Tomorrow

At Humanitys Promise we strongly believe that in less than 50 years from now people will be evaluating our program as one of the best things that ever happened to Africa. We are asking you to be a part of the real change that Humanitys Promise is bringing to a continent that has been mismanaged for too long. Humanitys Promise is helping the world to move from just feeding and fixing to leading Africans towards their own sustainability, through the promise of their youth.
