FOREWORD
It is in response to @ long felt want that this booklet of exper-
iences, “The Teacher's Friend," is issued. Its purpose is to supplement.
‘the Sunday School lesson in that it provides a short story or experience
which will, it is hoped, impress more firmly upon the children the
contents of the lesson itself.
‘The booklet contains 200 stories and parables, many of which are
actual experiences. Most have been taken from the files of our New
Apostolic Youths' Companion as they have accumulated over the past
years. In that respect, they are not original, but are nevertheless new
to the younger generation which we serve in our Sunday Schools today.
‘The stories have been kept brief purposely and aze written in simple
English to permit quick and easy presentation,
Of prime importance and value for the teacher is the categorical
index. Here will be found under the appropriate heading, whether
virtue or vice, good or bad influences, a number of experiences which
serve to illustrate the desired objective, Thus, if the Sunday School
lesson itself stresses the virtue of ‘Faith’ reference to the index will
reveal several stories based upon this virtue. If the penalties resulting
trom ‘Disobedience’ is the desired objective then reference to that
evil will reveal several stories or experiences which make that matter
clear. The teacher simply reads the story which illustrates the virtue
and thereby supplies a supplement to the lesson.
It should be a source of great satisfaction to those who have so
freely given of their time and effort to know that The ‘Teacher's
Friend is being published and distributed, When it is considered that
many hundreds of our children will bo served and instructed by this,
means and that the Godly truths are thereby more readily planted
into their hearts, it will be in itself a fitting reward. May our heavenly
Father bless further our humble efforts to be of service to His children
iby means of this booklet.
