At the time of my ordination as Assistant Chief Apostle on October 10, 1920, in Bielefeld, the fol- lowing prophecy was brought forth in a service in Hamburg: “The present Chief Apostle (namely, Father Nie- haus) will still die a natural death. However, the successor will not die a natural death, but must go through the experience of the suffering of Christ.” At my ordination as Chief Apostle on December 14, 1924, in Frankfurt a. M., Father Niehaus said: “Will you, when I am no longer able to do so, carry on the work of God in the way that I have made it my business to do—asking nothing that you cannot do yourself and, in the love of Christ, be a Brother to the Brothers? Will you follow my example in all of these things in the time to come, when I am no longer here? Will you always be a help to the Broth- ers in all things, first of all to the Apostles and then to all who believe in Jesus through their word? Will you take this burdensome responsibility upon your- self?” vl
