What the Discussion was about?

It was an informal discussion with industry experts on the different possibilities in this industry for the students It was almost a one to one session with each of the students, discussing in detail the doubts we all had about our careers They wanted to exchange views with us on how we feel about the career of our choice

The discussion consisted of following points :

Our Educational background Whether we have work experience or not Our career goals, both short term and long term. How aware we are of the various career opportunities in our field? Our interaction with our peers How we prepare for campus placements? How are we working towards achieving our career goals?

What the Students Gained?

They gave us examples of how we respond while taking decisions regarding what we want to be in life but how we end up being in a different role altogether:

This may be due to attractive packages offered or Lack of knowledge about the job offered or Lack of satisfaction with the current job profile.

They thus provided us with the insight that it is very important to know want we want to achieve in our life so that there is job satisfaction:

They showed us how to graphically plot our careers so that whatever our long term goals might be, we can achieve them.

They also gave us a brief description about the various job profiles being offered to students with our educational background.

The discussion was very helpful in clearing various doubts that we(Anjana, Pavneet & Vinay) had. Special thanks to Maven Guru, Ms. Ashwini Narayanan, Mr. Lalit Kathpalia for arranging such an interesting and interactive session to guide us in the right direction.
