Aliens Are Not The Gospel Aliens! How I got myself into a conversation about aliens I do not know.

You see I was on S.U. campus trying to do some evangelism when I found myself in a conversation with a student named Wes. And sure enough the conversation got onto the topic of aliens. After about an hour of back and forth intellectual talk I walked away saying, Aliens? What in the world were you thinking? How did we get on the topic of aliens? I was trying to share the gospel, and aliens are not the gospel. Are they? I ask you-- are they? (No). Great, so that tells me that you know what the gospel is, since youre able to say what the gospel isnt. Tonight I want to talk about what wed need to say in a conversation to be able to walk away and know that weve shared the gospel. Why is this important? Galatians 1:6-9 - preaching something that is not the gospel but passing it off like it is the gospel is a severe offense. So, what is the gospel -- take me through it step-by-step. 1 Corinthians 2:2 - Jesus crucified 1 John 1:8-9 - forgiveness of sins Acts 3:19 - repent Romans 4:25 - put to death for our sins, raised to life for our justification 1 Corinthians 15:12-22 - why does it matter that Christ raised from the dead? 2 Timothy 2:8 - Raised from the dead, descended from David (Romans 1:3) John 3:16 - What can we glean from this? Romans 2:16 - Judgment (gospel declares a day of judgment for all) Romans 15:17-19 - Fully proclaim the gospel through said and done (signs and wonders) Mark 1:1 - makes it sound like all of Mark is the gospel Luke 9:1-2, 6 - preach the kingdom and heal the sick, so they preached the gospel - at this point Jesus hadnt died, but they were proclaiming and demonstrating Gods power over darkness After this, go through Peters gospel, Pauls gospel, Jesus gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 - Pauls example Acts 15:6-7 - Met to discuss what is the gospel? Acts 10:34-43 - Contains the gospel message (use as Peters example) Luke 24:45-49 - Jesus explanation of the gospel Do we make people admit that theyre sinners? I dont see that as my role. I indicate that they need to repent, and the Holy Spirit convicts them of sin (John 16) - if you get them to admit theyre sinners it usually doesnt help...because your ability to bring conviction pales in comparison to the Holy Spirits ability. Romans 10:9-10 - walk through - outcome? Changed life: 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Timothy 2:19.
