Can be prepares in the laboratory by the action of
ice- cold, dilute sulphuric acid on Sodium peroxide (Na
2
O
2
)
or hydrated barium peroxide (BaO
2
.8H
2
O).
To an ice cold 20% solution of sulphuric acid, required
quantity sodium peroxide is added in installments of small
amounts. Very dilute H
2
O
2
is formed.
Barium peroxide is made into thin paste and added slowly
to ice cold, dilute sulphuric acid.
