Reflection
In this unit I have learned about many useful skills. I have learned about the map essentials, which are the things you would find on every single map; they are Title which tells you what place the map is showing, Legend which tells you what the certain some on a map mean, Direction which tells you what direction you are going, Scale which shows the actual size of the area the map covers, Labels which shows the names of lakes, oceans, rivers, cities, provinces, etc., and border which shows you where a map ends. We also learned about compass points and angular bearings which father developed our skills of direction finding. Military Grids are another thing we learned in this unit, there are two types of military grids: the four digit grid and the six digit grid, the main difference is that the six digit grid in more accurate. We also learned about latitude and longitude, this helps find exact positions, latitude finds positions above or below the equator, and longitude finds things on either side of the Prime Meridian. Last but certainly not least, time zones of Canada which tells you what the time is in different places in Canada. To make this map we got our sheet of paper and drew a border then we created our latitude and longitude lines. Now we had to draw Canada to scale so the

latitude and longitude lines helped. We then labelled our map and coloured. Once we had finished labelling and colouring we had to make sure we had all 6 map essentials. Then we out the information for our map work. Geography skills are the most useful when studying Geography because everything related to a geographic occupation is related to the use of geography skills. All Geographers need to have studied geographic skills to have been or become successful. One of the most important geography skills are the time zones which isnt only important in geographically related jobs, but almost every single job. I feel that geography is one of, if not the most important subjects to know about because it affects so many different things and people.
