LEARNING STYLES: A CRITICAL REVIEW ON THE METHODS OF LEARNING FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGERS

They are responsible to the project stakeholders, in delivering the projects objectives within the constraints of cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements. Project managers are expected to hit clients financial targets and drive business forward. As project face higher degrees of technical complexity and interdependency across functional boundaries, project managers must continue to change and remark themselves to remain competitive in this field. The essence of 'professional' project management lies in the ability to continually enhance the underlying knowledge basethe learning capacity. To adequately accomplish the important duties as professional project managers, they have to be able to learn continuously the principles of leadership and growth, because only knowledge workers would be competent to meet the requirements of clients. In view of these statements, by referring to the theories on learning styles, this paper attempts to review critically on how project managers can learn from each other across the industry in order to improve the level of competency of project management. This paper also aims to choose the most influential models which are applicable for the construction industry particularly for the project managers. In addition, this study is meant for investigating the relationship of these models from the perspective of learn, unlearn and relearn approach in project management context.
