HOW TO SAVE A WORD DOCUMENT AS A PDF FILE


Janette Diaz offers advice on how to save a word document as a pdf file (in Windows) to maintain original layout and ensure consistency when the document is opened in a Mac or a PC. This is useful when sending the document to multiple parties who may open the document in Macs and PCs. *This is especially useful when the document is part of an application package (e.g. work & scholarships).

After you complete the document and you have the desired layout (font size, margins, indentations, etc) Go to File Save As In the File Name section, type a desired name for the file. Click on the Save as Type section to view drop down options of file formats. Select PDF. (You
will notice that further options appear at the bottom of the box.

In the Optimize for option, select: Standard (publishing online and printing).if you want the document to print in standard form. Minimum size (publishing online).if you are not too concerned with the printing quality but file size is important. Click Options for more printing choices (e.g. What pages to print and if printout should include markups) After you finish selecting all the options, click Save. Note: After you save your document as a pdf file, parties receiving document cannot make changes
