Daily Realizations and Reminders

By Brandon Collins

God made me. He did not speak me into existence (“Let there be man.”) but was intimately involved
in every process of my physical and spiritual construction. Every physical attribute, every part of my
character, every part of me has been carefully and purposefully entrusted to me.

God and Sin

God is completely and infinitely holy.
He is the measure of morality and the standard of right and wrong. My sin infinitely offends
His holiness. Sin is the opposite of God and He hates it by nature, not by choice.
1Jo 1:5 And this is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you,
that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
When I sin, my sin is against Him. Sin is doubting that God is who He says He is.

“The way of the transgressor is hard.” Repentance is never easy. The consequences for sin are never
easy. Sin is the one thing that can completely disrupt my relationship with God.

God loves me and skillfully orders my ways for His glory and my good. He has promised to always
have my best interest in mind. He not only wants me to live eternal life after my death, He wants me
to have “life and life more abundantly” here on earth. That life comes as I grow to love and trust Him
and consistently take Him at His word.

God’s Word is the only trustworthy account of life. God is truth and His Word is truth. God cannot
lie. Any emotions I have about life or circumstances must first be interpreted through His ultimate
truth. Any lie from Satan about sin or God must be combated using His ultimate truth.

God is always with me, closer to me than my thoughts. He is inside all of my contemplations, all of
my internal struggles, all of my secret ponderings. Thus, every secret thought is proclaimed openly
for Him to hear. He wants an intimate part in every detail of my life. This is accomplished as I
acknowledge His presence, bring my thoughts actively before Him, and allow His Spirit to direct my
thoughts through scripture and scriptural truths that I am actively studying and memorizing
throughout the week.

When my direct line to heaven has been broken and God seems distant, sin is always the issue.
Always, always, always- sin is the problem.
Isa 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear
dull, that it cannot hear; (2) but your iniquities have made a separation between you
and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
