On Wednesday, January 4, beginning at 6 a.m., there will be a power outage that will affect your neighborhood. DTE Energy will turn off the electricity in your home for up to eight hours. This power shutdown is necessary, so DTE Energy can repair some underground power lines that serve your area. The repairs cant be done unless the power is shut off. This work will reduce the chances of a longer, more serious unexpected power outage. Completing this work is critical to ensuring the ongoing stability of the system. A map of the area that will be without power is on the back of this flyer. About 3,500 customers will be affected. Second Ebenezer Church, 14601 Dequindre Road in Detroit, will be open for anyone who needs shelter during this time. Be safe during power outages

Make sure you turn off or unplug major appliances, computers and other sensitive electronic equipment to prevent damage when power is restored. Open faucets slightly so they constantly drip to prevent pipes from freezing. eep portable heaters at least 5 feet away from furniture, draperies, and other flammable materials. K Heaters that burn fuel need proper ventilitation to prevent buildup of harmful fumes. Never use a gas range for heating or charcoal as an indoor heating or cooking source. Some alarm systems may be affected by the outage.
