CHEE 209: Analysis of Process Data

The use of statistical tools for the analyses of data typically encountered by chemical and geological engineers will be introduced in CHEE 209. These techniques can be used to analyze laboratory and field data, and operating data obtained from industrial processes. At the conclusion of this course, you should be able to:

Summarize and visualize data using tabular and graphical methods, Account for variability when making decisions regarding process improvements and investment decisions, Develop linear models to describe and predict process and laboratory behavior

Hopefully, you will also develop a greater understanding and critical viewpoint on the use of statistics as reported in the media. Students from Geological Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Engineering Chemistry are taking this course. Examples from these disciplines will be used to demonstrate the various techniques. Students will have the opportunity to use a commercial software package (available at no additional cost) in several assignments. Tom Harris
