This is a primary source that I used for my project on the history of rap and its affect on modern culture and life. This song is one of the very first hip-hop songs to ever be produced, within the actual hip-hop genre. There will be a media player on my website that plays this song.

This song is technically the first rap song ever recorded. The artists was not in the hip-hop scene and was defiantly not going for that genre at all, but his song sounds like rap and technically classifies as rap, so technically its the first rap song recorded.

This video talks about how society blames rap for children going off the deep end.

This is a primary source that I used for my project on the history of rap and its affect on modern culture and life. This is an interview with Kool Herc, the man who pretty much invented hip-hop and rap music. He talks about how rap has changed from what it originally was to promoting negative things. He says rap was always about peace and respect.

This is a hip-hop song by the Gorillaz that we can use on our website. This song shows what newer hip-hop is like compared to what hip-hop was when it first started.

This video is used in my website as a video explaining one of the fun facts in the Cool Facts section of my website. It is a primary source. It shows that this certain song played forwards says one thing but played backwards it says something else. This method is called backmasking.

This is the president himself talking about rap and hip-hop. He talks about the good and bad things about it and how it can affect our youth. Obama believes that hip-hop is good but can portray certian bad things to be good and cool, but not all hip-hop does that, people just seam to stereotype that it does. He uses Jay Z as example of a rapper he listens to..

This is the very first rap song to be released as a singe and make it into the mainstream. It is written by the Sugarhill Gang and has an old feel to it. This song will go on our website for listening.

This is a primary source that I used for my project on the history of rap and its affect on modern culture and life. This is a picture of Kool Herc that I could use for my website. Thats really all I can say about it.

This picture shows Eminem in glasses, which sort of shows that rappers are normal people too. Theyre not perfect. This would be good for a project because it breaks the stereotype that rappers are doing drug and are gangsters and shows that rap is an art style.

This source depicts the Bronx in a negative way so that you get the full effect of what it might be like to live there. This will be used in my project when I talk about how rap originated in the Bronx and how gifted teens had to use what they had because they didnt have the money to spend on music equipment.

The Sugarhill Gane was the first hip-hop group to release a very well selling hip-hop single. They pushed hip-hop into the mainstream. This picture will be used on our website for decoration and also to depict the Sugarhill Gang when we talk about them.

This source is an interview with an upcoming MC Killah Priest. Killah Priest is all about religion but also raps because he appreciates and loves the art style, hes not doing it for the fame and money. This takes some of the layers of rap and hip-hop stereotype off.

This is another interview with a rap group that is in the rap and hip-hop scene because its an art. They are just normal people not trying to be someone or something. They rap for rap, not fame.

This is a secondary source that I used for my project on the history of rap and its affect on modern culture and life. This source talks about how old hip-hop and rap was probably the best kind. It was cleaner and more meaningful. Rap now is more about drugs, murders, and stuff like that.

This website talks about who was technically the first rap singer, who was not in the genre at all, but made one song that sort of sounded like rap and classified as rap so therefore it was technically the first rap song.

This site or rather article talks about hip hops influence on todays youth, though this may not favor hip hop it does show other views on hip hop and how those who arent affected by the music observe the effects that the music has on others, particularly youth.

This is the only site that I found that provides visual aids such as videos to show how hip hop evolved throughout the years. This site concentrates more on the hip hop culture rather than the actual music but it has many strong points on rap history.

This site features tab browsing and many useful facts about how hip-hop evolved from the early stages to what we know and love today. This site categorizes many important topics so that they have become easily accessible and easy to find

This site starts were real American hip hop really began in the early to late 70s and than runs through several influential hip hop figures such as Snoop Dog, Nas, and Grandmaster Flash. This site runs from old school heavy hitters to rookey up and comers.

What it lets you do it type in a word or phrase of your choice and it converts it into some awesome graffiti that you can legally use for banners and titles on your own website. Thats not all. You can also edit the colors and design of the graffiti yourself. This source was used for making most of the banners and titles for my website.

So you can find practically anything or any kind of information that you will want to know about the history or the culture of hip-hop.

This site starts with the birth of hip-hop, than after that makes a huge leap to the golden age of rap, the late 90s. After that it gradually works its way up to the early 2000s than moves on to the greatest hip hop records of all time. These are the things that influenced rap music the most the artists and the albums.

This site categorizes all of the greats, the most influential rap artists, anything from song lyrics to biographies to quotes. This site lists some of the most influential rap artists and gives information on how they affected hip-hop today.

This is a secondary source that I used for my project on the history of rap and its affect on modern culture and life. This website shows a whole timeline about rap from the 1970s-1990s, the golden age of hip-hop and rap.

This site tells you a whole timeline since raps first records started coming out in 79. This site is more of a timeline than anything and it helps to distinguish whos out of the picture and whos still defining what rap is and who defined what they grew up wanting to be like.

This website is a tertiary source because it contains both primary and secondary information. I am using the primary functions of it. The primary functions I am using are the interview portions. This will help me in my website point out real opinions on rap from real people.
