I was given the opportunity to represent Presort First Class and GOPCC at a special luncheon in Washington DC on October 19th. The Postal Service invited some industry leaders from around the nation to come to a luncheon and meet with the United States Postal Service Board of Governors. This was a roundtable luncheon where we got to give our ideas and concerns about the postal service. Patrick Donahoe, Deputy Postmaster General of the United States Postal Service was at my table as well a couple of members of the Board of Governors. There were 4 industry members per table and 3 postal representatives. I was asked about our concerns and I brought up discounts for mailers, Saturday Delivery and Confirmation Services for other types of mail. Mr Donahoe answered my questions assuring me that the post office is very concerned about staying financially fit and that is why they are looking at all possible options. They are enthused about the new intelligent mail barcode and what it is doing for them. He assured me that the discounts will continue to be similar to what they are. Saturday delivery is something they have to consider because it would save them $3.5 Billion Dollars annually. They would adjust the delivery cycle of all classes of mail to cover the loss of that delivery day. He also pointed out that the new intelligent mail barcode will allow customers to track their mail by using the full service option. I look forward to seeing everyone at the November 18th Quarterly Luncheon

The 3rd Annual GO-PCC Car, Truck, & Bike Show was a HUGE success!
We had endured days and days of rain, but the clouds drifted away and provided us with a perfect day for the GO-PCC car show on July 10th. A record number 130 cars arrived for the car show and hundreds of Bricktown visitors walked throughout the parking area admiring the beautiful cars gleaming in the sun. The GO-PCC awarded 62 awards plaques and over 100 door prizes. The band played vintage rock while the crowds enjoyed the sites and delicious BBQ. This year, Joe Vanlandingham arranged for the Lions Club Mobile Health Screening Unit to attend the car show. The Lions Club offered free health screening to the public and a large number of visitors took advantage of the service and enjoyed the cool 70 degree temperature in the health unit. We definitely want them to attend again next year! Postmaster and Car Show Committee Chair, Larry Chandler, and the Executive Board members did a fantastic job coordinating the car show and deserve a well earned thank you! Larry Chandler received another postal position in Indianapolis, Indiana and will no longer chair the Car Show Committee, but advises that he may drive down for the 4th Annual Car show next year. Joe Vanlandingham and Jerry Calvert will be taking over the Car Show Committee. The GO-PCC would also like to thank all of the car show sponsors for their donations and assistance with the car show. See you at next years car show!
