Old Testament 3 Syllabus Introduction Paul tells Timothy the young pastor to Study to show thyself approved unto

God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2Ti 2:15 KJV). That word dividing means to make a straight cut. Biblical work is an iterative process (goes around in circles, getting closer and closer to the truth). Without knowledge of the scriptures, there is no theology. With sound theology, there is help to understanding the scriptures. It is of critical importance as a pastor, or Christian leader that you are familiar with all the scriptures because all doctrine comes from a straight cut of every part of the Bible. This course should be quite enjoyable and edifying to you as you read and see Gods work in the Prophets. Purpose: 1. To give the student the familiarity with Prophetic books of the Old Testament 2. To enable the student to interpret theological principals from the Prophetic books of the Old Testament 3. To be able get a grasp of how exegetical teaching and preaching can be done through the Prophetic books of the Old Testament 4. To see how God is in control of all events and history through the working of Spirit in the nations of the world, and Israel in particular. Assignments The student is required to complete all reading, discussion, and writing assignments. I Interactive assignments (Due each week posted) Most weeks there will be questions that you will be required to answer posted on the course web site. You are required to respond online to each question by Wednesday and then by Friday read all responses and then thoughtfully reflect to at least one (more then one is good!) other persons posting. These answers and responses should be substantial, meaning they require more then a single paragraph that expresses some thought concerning the question. It would also be beneficial to reflect on someones answer that has not had someone else respond to their thoughts. II Reading and writing assignment (Due Sunday week 2) Note: Read each of your texts only where specifically stated. They may be used again in further courses. Make a careful note of what to read in each of your texts for they are all different.

Important Note: Reading levels are different for different books.
