About

the Organization: The South Eastern Green Initiative has pulled together a hot team to brainstorm and drive new ways of making the region greener. The team is comprised of a diverse group of eight members picked from regional environmental agencies and nonprofit organizations. They will be given an allotted amount of time to develop innovative ideas to get green projects underway, in an area not known for its commitment to being environmentally conscientous. *A project plan from the group will be required outlining the specifics of their ideas at the conclusion of their meeting. The Hot Team Leah Beth is Abbey Hetherington, Green Building Project Manager for SouthFace in Atlanta, GA Abbey is smart, studious, and extremely passionate about driving development of sustainable construction, both commercially and residentially. She has worked for SouthFace for 2 years and managed multiple successful projects that have earned her accolades for her innovation and creativity. Abbey found out two days ago that she was being sent to Charlotte to represent SouthFace and work on the initiative. She knows little about the project- and is hesitant to participate, as she was just tasked with a huge project for SF that will take an extreme amount of her time and focus. Bill is Dwayne Fleming, Senior Educator for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Richmond, VA Dwayne is extremely committed to his cause. He travels throughout PA, MD, and VA working to educate government officials and ecological groups on the importance of the CBF. He also serves on the boards of several nonprofits. He was honored to have been chosen to partake in the South Eastern Green Initiative, but mainly for networking purposes. He is hoping to sway the group towards the needs of the bay area. Kristen is Felicia Talbot, member of the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Environmental Council in Nashville, TN Felicia was pulled into the South Eastern Green Initiative because a fellow board member, Sara Henderson unexpectedly left her position on the board. Felicia just received word of her participation a few hours before being asked to leave for Charlotte. She was unprepared and caught off guard. Saleh is Devin Urla, Marketing Director for the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association, Devin was extremely excited to be chosen to represent NCSEA within the Green Initiative team. Because the team is meeting in Charlotte, he feels that this could be a great opportunity for Charlottes energy resources. Devin has great marketing experience, but doesnt know much about project management. Adriana is Nora Peterson, staff attorney for the South Carolina Environmental Law Project. Nora is young, driven and committed to protecting the environment through fighting for the rights of the environment. Nora has successfully fought for appeals on many projects that endanger the SC wetlands. Nora is indifferent to participating in the South Eastern Green Initiative- she will do what she can, but isnt interested in adopting a great share of work.

Katina is Diane Cotty, grant writer for Environment North Carolina, in Raleigh, NC. Diane is extremely hard working. She is proficient in organization and communication. She has little tolerance for laziness and poor communications and for this reason she volunteers to shepherd the South Eastern Green Initiative when the group comes together in Charlotte. Kenyon is Brooks Nelson, project manager for Gwinnett County Clean Air Campaign. Brooks worked in project management of commercial buildings for 25 years. When his company went bankrupt last year, Brooks wife, who worked for the Clean Air Campaign, begged him to assist until he could find a job in his area of expertise. While he can effectively drive a project, he lacks passion for the cause. He has a short temper and isnt generally liked by his coworkers at the Clean Air Campaign. He was less than thrilled to be assigned to work on the South Eastern Environmental Initiative, but his wife pleaded for him to go, until they could get the new project manager up to speed and ready to take over. Brooks is a mans man- and finds the non profit world frustrating and too soft. He is hoping he doesnt have to do any work for this team.
