DUAA AS-SIMAAT

It is recommended to recite this duaa in the last hour before Mahgrib on Friday. AlMajlisi says that most the pious religious scholars used to recite this dua'a. It is is narrated in Shaykh Tusis Almusbah, Sayyid ibna Tawuss Jamal Al-Usbooa and in Kafamis books on the authority of Muhammad ibn Uthman Al-Umri, the representative of Imam Sahibuz Zaman (aj) with reliable sanads. The duaa is also narrated from Imam Baqer (as) and Imam Sadeq (as). Al-Majlasi narrates it in AlBihar and explains its meanings. Following is the duaa according to Sheikh Tusis Almusbah: English Translation
Transliteration

O Allah! I beseech You allahumma in-neee as aluka through Your Name, the bis-mikal-azeemil-aa-zami great, the most great, the most majestic, the most magnificent and the most noble. If You are requested therewith to open the closed doors of the sky these will open with Your mercy.
l-aaz-zil aja lil ak-rami

al-ladee idaa dueeta bihi alaa maghaaliqi ab-waabissamaa-lilil-fat-hi birrah mati ka in fatahat

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaa If You are requested mazaaa-iqi ab- waabil-arzi thereby to remove the lil-farajin-farajat narrowness of the doors of the earth, they will be opened wide.

If You are requested thereby to make easy the difficulty, it will be made easy.

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaalus-ri lil-yus-ri tayas-sarat

If You are requested thereby to restore the dead to life, they will rise from their graves.

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaalam-waati lin nushoorintasharat

If You are requested thereby to remove misery and adversity, it will be removed.

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaa kash fil-ba-saaa-i wazzar-raaa-in-kashafat

I beseech You through wa bijalaali waj-hikal-kareem the Majesty of Your person, the Most Generous and the Most Honoured One, before Whom everybody bows down in submission and all necks bend down in reverence and all voices become humbled and all hearts tremble; through His fear
ak-ram-wujohi wa aaz-zil-wujooh al-ladee anat lahul-wujooh

wa khazaat lahur-riqaab wa khashaat lahul-as-waat wa wajilat lahul-quloobu mim-makhaafatika

and I beseech You through Your Might, which prevents the heaven from falling on the earth except with Your permission, and which controls all the heavens and the earth so closely that they cannot move away from their positions;

wa bi-qo-watikal-latee bihaa tum-sikus-samaaa-a an taqaa alaal-arzi il-laa bidnika

wa tum-sikus-samaaati walar-za an tazoolaa

and I beseech You through Your Will, which the whole world obeys,

wa bi-masheee-atikal-latee dal-lahaal-aalamoon

and through Your Word. wa bi-kalimatikal-latee khalaq-ta bihaas-samaawaati By which You have wal-arz created the heaven and the earth, and through Your Wisdom, with which You have created the wonders, and with which You created Darkness and made it Night, and made night the time of quiet and rest; and with which You created Light and made it Day, and made day the time of movement and observation; and with which You have created the Sun,
wa bi-kalimatikal-latee sana-ta bihaal-ajaaa-iba

wa khalaq-ta bihaaz zulmata wa jaal-tahaa laylan wa jaal-tal-layla sakanaa wa khalaq-ta bihaan-noora wa jaal-tahu naharaa wa jaal tan-nahaaara nushooraam-mub-siraa

wa khalaq-ta bihaashamsa

and made the sun gleam wa jaal-tash-sham-sa ziyaaa-a wa khalaq-ta bihaal qamara And with which You have created the Moon,

and made the moon light; and with which You have created heavenly bodies, and made them fixed stars and planets,

wa jaal-tal-qamara nooraa wa khalaq-ta bihaalkawaakiba wa jaal tahaa nujoomaawwa buroojaaw-

and lamps for guidance at night, and as a means of decoration, and missiles for driving away devils, and have created for them east and west,

wa masaabeeha wa zeenataw-wa rujooma

wa jaal-ta lahaa mashaariqa qa maghaarib

and have created for them the places of ascendancy and orbits, and created for them a firmament and sphere, and fixed for them stages in the heaven

wa jaal ta lahaa mataalia wa majaaree

wa jaal ta lahaa falkaaw-wa masaabih wa qad-dar-tahaa fissamaaa-i manazila

and how beautiful the stages

faahsanta taq-deerahaa

and shaped the stars and wa saw-war-tahaa faahsanta tas-weeraha how beautiful the shapes

and made them stable through Your Name;

wa ah saytahaa bi-as-maaaika ihsaaa-aa

and from Your Wisdom You designed a system for them

wa dab-bar-tahaa bi hikmatika tad-beeraa

and what a good system, fa ah-san-ta tad-beerahaa and controlled the heavenly bodies through the king of the night and the king of day,
wa sakh-har-tahaa bi-sultaanil-layli wa sul-taani-nahaari

and through hours, making them a means for the reckoning of years and counting,

was-saaaati wa adadis sineena wal-hsaab

wa jaal-ta rumaking appearance of yatahaalijameein-naasi marheavenly bodies regular aaw-waahidaa and universal.

And I beseech You, O Allah, through Your Glory, with which You addressed Your slave and Your Messenger, Moses son of 'Imran peace be on him,

wa-as-alukallahumma bimajdika al-ladee kal-lam-ta bihi aab-daka wa rasoolaka

moosab-na im-raana alayhis salaamu

while he was in the company of angels

fil-muwad-daseen

which address even the faw-qa ih-saasil karoobeeyeen favourite cherubin could not ever hear, above the clouds of light, above the box of evidence, within the pillar of fire on Mount Sinai, and on Mount Hurith in the Holy Vale in the sacred tract of land to the right of Taurus Mountain-through a tree;
faw-qa ghamaaa-imin-noor faw-qa taabootish-shahaadah fee amoodin-naari wa fee toori saynaaa-a wa fee jabali hooreetha fil-waadeel-muqad-dasi fil-buq-atil- mubaarakati min jaanibit-tooril-aymani minash-shajarah

and again addressed him on the soil of Egypt,

wa fee arzi misra

after showing nine clear bi-tis-iaaa-yaatim bay-yinaat signs and on the day You split wa yaw-ma faraq-ta libaneee is-raaa-eelal-bahr the sea for the Children of Israel, and caused springs to flow from a stone, thereby displaying wonders of Your might in a deep sea;
wa fil-mum-bajisaatil-latee sana-ta bihaal- ajaaa-iba

fee bah-ri soof

wa aqad-ta maaa-al-bahri and on the day when fee qal-bil-gham-ri kalYou solidified the water hijaarati of the sea in the midst of the storm,

and caused the Children of Israel to pass by it,

wa jaawazta bi-baneee israaa-eelal-bahra

wa tammat kalimatukal- husand fulfilled Your excellent promises made naa alayhim bimaa sabaroo to them because of their calmly endurance,

and made them the inheritors of the East and the West in the earth, wherein there are blessings for all the worlds; and You drowned Pharaoh and his armies and boats in the water. And (I beseech You) through Your name, which is the most great,

wa aw-rath-tahummashaariqal-ar-zi wa maghaa ribaha al-latee baarak-ta feehaa lilaalameen

wa agh-raq-ta fir-awna wa junoodahu wa maraakibahu fil-yam wa bis-mikal-azeemilaazami

the most majestic, the most magnificent, the most noble;

al-aazil-ajal-lil-ak-ram

and through Your glory, wa bimaj-dikal-ladee tajallayta bihi li-moosaa kalemika with which You revealed light to Moses, alayhis-salaamu fee toori say-naaa-a Your addressee, peace be on him, on Mount Sinai;
wa li-ibraaheema alayhisand earlier radiated the salaamu khaleeka min qab-lu light for Abraham, Your fee mas-jidil-kheef sincere friend peace be on him, in the mosque of al-Khayf; wa li-is-haaqa safee-yika and for Isaac, Your alayhis-salaamu fee bi-ri chosen Prophet, peace sheein be on him, in the well of shiay', wa li-yaa-qooba nabee-yika and for Your Prophet alayhis-salaamu fee bayti eel Jacob, peace be on him, in Bayt iil

and through Your Glory, with which You fulfilled Your promise to Abraham, peace be on him; and through Your Oath in favour of Isaac; and through Your witnessing favouring Jacob;

wa aw-fayta li-ib-riaheema alayhis salaamu bimeethaaqik

wa lis-haaqa- bihil-fik wa li-yaaqooba bishahadatik

wa lil-mu-mineena biwa-dika and through the fulfillments of Your promise to the faithful: wa lid-daaeena bi-as-maaaand through Your ika fajaab-t Names with which You accepted the prayers of supplications;

and through Your Glory, which appeared to Moses, son of Imran, peace be upon him

wa bi-maj-dikal-ladee zahara li-moosaa ibni imraana alayhis-salaamu

in Qubbat al-Rumman;

alaa qub-batir-rummaan

wa biaaa-yaatikal-latee and through Your Signs, which appeared on the waqaat alaaa ar-zi mis-ra soil of Egypt

with great might and victory, with powerful signs and with the display of full command and great power;

bi-maj-di l-iz-zati walghalabati biaaa-yaatin azeezah wa bi-sul-taanil-qoo-wah wa bi-iz-zatil-qud-rah

and with the affair of the wa bi-sha-nil-kalimatit-taaammah perfect word;


wa bi-kalmaatikal-latee and with Your words tafaz-zal-ta bihaa alaaa with which You do a favour for the people of ahlis- samaawaati wal-ar-zi the heavens and the earth wa ahlid-dun-yaa wa ah-liland the people of this aa-khirah world and the hereafter; wa bi-rah-matikal-latee and through Your manan-ta bihaa alaa jameei Mercy with which You khal-qik bestow upon all Your creatures:

and through Your Power with which You dominate the worlds; and (I beseech You) through Your Light, through fear of which Mount Sinai collapsed,

wa bis titaaatikal-latee aqam-ta bihaa alaalaalameen wa bi-noorikal-ladee qad khar-ra min fazaihi thooru saynaaa-a

through Your Knowledge, and Your Greatness and Majesty, and Your Unique Magnificence and Your Honour and (through) Your might, which the earth could not bear, and, for which the heavens bent down, and the great depths restrained themselves,

wa bi-il-mika wa jalaalika wa kib-ri- yaaa-ika wa izzatik wa jabarootika

al-latee lam tas-taqil-laahaalaraz wan-khafazat lahassamaawaat wanzajara lahaal-um-qulak-bar

and the seas and rivers became stable,

wa rakadat lhaaal-bihaaru wal-an-haar

and to which the mountains made submission, and due to which the earth became firm on its shoulders, and to which all creatures submitted,

wa khazaat lahaal-jibaal

wa sakanat lahaaal-ar-zu bi-manaakibihaa

was-tas-lamat lahaalkhalaaa-iqu kul-luhaa

and due to which the winds breathed,

wa khafaqat lahaar-riyaahu fee jarayaanihaa

and the flaming fires were extinguished in their places.

wa khamadat lahaanneeraanu fee aw-taanihaa

wu bisul-taanikal-ladee And I beseech You urifat laka bihal-ghalabatu through Your might, dah-rad-duhoori through which You have been known to be Allpowerful for ever and ever,

and for which You have been praised in the heavens and the earth;

wa humid-ta bihi fis samaawaati wal-arazeen

wa bikalimatika and I beseech You kalimatissid-qil-latee through Your word, the sabaqat li-abeenaaa aaaWord of Truth, which dama alayhis-salaamu wa became a blessing for our father Adam and his dur-ree yatihu bir-rah-mah generation;

and I beseech You through Your word, by which You overcame everything;

wa as-aluka bi-kalimatikallatee ghalabat kul-laa shay

wa bi-noori waj-hikal-ladee and I beseech You tajal-layta bihi lil-jabali through the light of Your Face, which when it flased on Mount Sinai

crushed it to pieces, whereby Moses fainted and fell down, and through Your Glory, which appeared on Mount Sinai, and through which You addressed Your slave and Your Mesenger; Moses, son of 'Imran, and through Your appearance in Sa'ir and on Mount Faran near Rabawat, which are clean and holy places,

fajaal tahu dak-kaa wa khar-ra moosaa saiqaa wa bimaj-dikal-ladee zhara alaa toori say-naaa-a

fakal-lam-ta bihi aab-daka wa rasoolaka moosaabina im-raan wa bital-atika fee saaeer wa zuhoorika fee jabali faaraana bi-rabawaatil-muqaddaseena

when troops of heavenly wa junoodil-malaaa-ikatissaaa-f-feen angels were in rows,

and with the submissiveness of the angels praising You,

wa khushooil-malaaa-ikatilmusab-biheen

and with Your blessings wa bi-barakaatikal-latee baarak-ta feeha a'laa with which You ibraheema khaleelika a'layhis honoured Abraham, sallam Your sincere friend, peace be upon him, among the followers of Muhammad, Your blessings be upon him and his Progeny and You honoured Isaac, Your chosen prophet, among the followers of Jesus, peace be on them both, and honoured Jacob, Your favoured slave,
fee ummati muhammadin sal-laallahu ailayhi wa aalih wa baarak-ta li-ishaaqa s'afiyyika fee ummati e'essa alayhimaas-salaam

wa baarak-ta li-yaaqooba israaa-eelika

among the followers of Moses, peace be on them both, and honoured Your intimate friend Muhammad, may the blessings of Allah be upon him and his Progeny, among his offspring and progeny, and his followers O Allah! Just as were absent and didnt witness these manifestations of Your glory,

fee ummati moosaa alayhimaas-salaam

wa baarak-ta lihabeebika muhammadin sal-laallahu aalihi wa aa-lihi

fee it-ratihi wa dur-reeyathi wa ummatih

alllahumma wa kamaa ghibnaa an daalika wa lam nash-had-hu

yet we believed in their wa aaa-man-naa bihi wa lam narahu sid-qaaaw-wa adtruth and justice, laa without having been eyewitnesses, So we beseech You to send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad, and honour Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhamamad, and have mercy on Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad, with the blessings, honour, and mercy
an tusal-liya alaa muhammadiw-wa aa-li muhammadin

wa an tubaarika alaa muhammadin-wa aa-li muhammadin wa tarah'amma alaa muhammadin-wa aa-li muhammadin kaaf-zali maa sal-layta wa baarak-ta wa tarah-ham-ta

you sent and bestowed on Abraham and the progeny of Abraham. Surely You are Praiseworthy, Glorious, the Doer of what You will. You are Powerful over all things

alaaa ib-raaheema wa aa-li ib raheem in-naka hameedum-majeed faaaalul-limaa tureed wa anta alaa kul-li shay-in qadeerun

Now one should express his legitimate desire and beseech Allah to fulfill it, then recite the following:

English Translation O Allah

Transliteration ya allahu

O Compassionate, O Kind O Original Designer of Heavens and Earth O Lord of Glory and Honour O most Merciful of all the merciful O Allah, for the sake of this prayer, and for the sake of these Names which no one can interpret,

ya hannanu ya mannanu ya badee'us samawati wal arzi

ya 'thal jalali wal ikrami yaaa ar-hamar-raahimeena allahuma bihaq-qi hadaadduaaaa-i wa bihaq-qi hadiheel-asmaaa-i il-latee laa yaa-lamu tafseerahaa

the inner meaning of which no wa-laa yaa-lamu baatinahaa ghayruk one other than Yourself knows.
sal-li alaa muhammadin wa Send Your blessing upon aa-li muhammadin Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad;

and do to me what suits You and do not do to me what I deserve and forgive my sins past and future, and increase Your lawful sustenance for me, and save me from the help of wicked men, wicked neighbours, wicked companions,

waf-al bee maa anta ah-luh wa-laa taf-al bee ana ah-luhu wagh-fir lee min dunoobee maa taqad-dama minhaa wa maa taakh-hara wa was-sia alay-ya min halaali rizqik wak-finee maoonata in-saani saw-in wa jari saw-in wa qareeni saw-in-

and wicked rulers Verily You are able to do whatever You will, and You know everything. Amen, O Lord of the worlds.

wa sul-taani saw-in in-naka alaa maa tashaaa-u qadeerun wa bikul-li shay-in aleemun aa-meen rab- bal-aalameen

Al-Majlasi narrated from Sayed Ibn Baqis Almusbah that one should say after reciting Duaa As-Simat: English Translation O Allah For the sake of this prayer, and for the sake of these Names which no one can interpret,
Transliteration allahuma bihaq-qi hadaadduaaaa-i wa bihaq-qi hadiheel-asmaaa-i il-latee laa yaa-lamu tafseerahaa wa-laa ta-weelahaa wa-laa yaa-lamu baatinahaa wa-laa zaahirahaa ghayruk

the inner and outer meaning of which no one other than Your self knows.

an tusal-li alaa muhammadin Send Your blessing upon wa aa-li muhammad Muhammad and the Progeny of Muhammad;

and give me the good of this wa an tarzuqanee khayrad-dunyaa wal-aa-khirah world and the hereafter; and do to me what suits You and do not do to me what I deserve and exact vengeance from
waf-al bee maa anta ah-luh wa-laa taf-al bee ana ah-luhu wan-taqim lee min

:Name your enemy then say and forgive my sins


wagh-fir lee min dunoobee

past and future, and forgive my parents and all faithful men and women, and increase Your lawful sustenance for me, and save me from the help of wicked men, wicked neighbours, wicked rulers, wicked companions, and evil days And evil hours, and exact vengeance for me on everyone who hatches secret plots against me, and on everyone who oppresses me and seeks to do to me or my family or my children or my brothers

maa taqad-dama minhaa wa maa taakh-hara wa li-wwaaliday-ya wa li-jameeil-mumineena wal-mu-minaat wa was-sia alay-ya min halaali rizqik wak-finee maoonata insaani saw-in wa jari saw-in wa sul-taani saw-in wa qareeni saw-inwa yaw-mi saw-inwa saaati saw-in wan-taqim lee mimmayyakeedunee wa mimmay-yab-ghee alay ya wa yureed bee wa bi-ahlee wa aw-laadee wa ikhwaanee

wa jeeraanee wa or my neighbours or my qaraabaatee minal-murelations among faithful men mineena wal-mu-minaati and women.

(seeks to do) injustice Verily You are able to do whatever You will, and You know everything.

zul-maan in-naka alaa maa tashaaa-u qadeerun wa bikul-li shay-in aleemun

Amen, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah! For the sake of this prayer, grant wealth and affluence to indigent faithful men and women,

aa-meen rab- balaalameen allahumma bihaq-qi hadaad-duaaaa-i tafaz-z al alaa fuqaraaa-il-mumineena wal-muyminaati bilghinaa wath-thar-wah

wa alaa mar-zaal muand recovery and sound health to the sick faithful men mineena wal-muyminaati bish-shifaaa-i and women, wassihhah wa alaa ahyaaa-iland bliss and clemency to the mumineena walliving faithful men and muyminaati bil-lutfi walwomen, karaamah

and remit the sins of, and have mercy on, the deceased faithful men and women, and arrange the return home of all faithful travellers with safety and gain.

wa alaa am-waatil-mumumineea walmuyminaati bil-maghfirati war-rah-mah wa alaa musaafireelmumineena wal-muminaati bir-rad-di ilaaa aw-taanihim saalimeena ghaanimeena

Through Your mercy, O Most bi-rah-matika yaaa arhamar-raahimeena Merciful of all the merciful.
wa sal-laallahu alaa May Allah's blessings be say-yidinaa upon our master Muhammad, muhammadin khataminthe seal of the prophets, nabee-yeena

and his Progeny, the purified. wa it-ratihit-taahireena and His peace be upon them plentifully
wasal-lama tas-leeman katheeraa

Sheikh Ibn Fahad narrates that it is recommended after reciting Duaa As-Simat to recite the following: English Translation

O Allah I ask you for the sake Allahuma innee as'aluka bih'urmati hadaad-duaaaaof this prayer

and what was mentioned in it from names and what it contains from meanings and design which none other than You comprehend fully that you do to me

wa bima faat minhu minal asmaa' wa biba yashtamilu a'layhee minal tafseeri wat-tadbeeri al-lathee la yuheetu bihi illa anta an taf'ala bee

....

and mention your legitimate desires

Just before sunset when Friday is getting over say "Subhaanaka laa ilaaha illaa anta yaa hannaanu yaa mannaanu yaa badeeussamaawaati wal arz yaa dal jalaali wal ikraam "
Shaykh al-s has mentioned that the last hour of Friday, which lasts to sunset, is the hour in which prayers are responded. Therefore, it is required to pray Almighty Allah insistently at that hour. It has been also narrated that this hour begins when half of the sun disk sets and the other half only remains visible. Lady Fimah al-Zahr', peace be upon her, used to pray Almighty Allah at this hour so that her prayers be answered. It is also recommended to say the following litany that is reported from the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his Household:

subnaka l ilha illanta

Glory be to You! There is n

y annnu y mannnu y bad`a alssamwti wal-ari

O All-tender! O All-bestowe

O Fashioner of the heaven

y dhaljalli wal-ikrmi

O Lord of Majesty and Hon
