I very much share your concerns on this issue, although of course it does not apply to Scotland. It is for this reason that I did not support the Coalition government when the Labour party motion was voted upon. I was similarly unwilling to support the Labour motion itself, not least given their own track record on such matters when so recently in government themselves. An appeal by the government against the ruling by the Information Commissioner is due to be heard within the next fortnight and it strikes me that this will be the most appropriate forum within which to resolve the matter.
