1, Safeguarding soldiers and equipment during sustained operations in cold
weather is one of the greatest leadership challenges you will find. Our
mission and the European environment demand that we be ready to conduct such
operations.
2, I challenge all leaders in the 8th Infantry Division (Mechanized) to
became experts in cold weather operations. A thorough reading and under-
standing of the attached guide by all comanders and leaders is mandatory.
