Speak Writing Assignment: Symbolism Story The symbolism of trees throughout Speak is very important to the story.

The physical descriptions of the trees help reveal details about Melindas emotional state in a creative and subtle way. Now write your own story using symbolism, using Speak as inspiration. Your story may be about yourself (autobiographical) or completely ctional. Requirements: - Choose a symbol (such as the tree in Speak) and use it multiple times throughout the story. Your symbolism must be meaningful and should add to the main character, plot development, or another important aspect of the story. - Your story must include at least ve examples of gurative language, including at least one of each of the following: simile, metaphor, hyperbole, and personication. You must label your gurative language, indicating which type of gurative language it is. - You must include a title page. The title page must include: a creative title, your name, and an illustration of the main symbol of your story. Make it neat and beautiful! - Your story, whether autobiographical or ctional, should be creative, detailed, and well structured, including a clear conict and resolution. - There should be a clear mood (or changes in mood) throughout the story. - As always, use good grammar and proper spelling. - Your story should not be longer than ve pages (double-spaced, size 12 font).
