This part # 266746 control module is used for all SHU/I 53 series & SHU/I 68 series dishwashers. SHU/I 53 models use a jumper (part # 167782), while SHU/I 68 models dont. Since each control module is shipped without a jumper, existing jumper must be used. This applies to SHU/I 5302, 5304, 5305, 5306, 5307, 5312, 5314, 5315, 5316 & 5317 models.

Key functional parts changes for SHU/SHV/SHI dishwashers for softer bearing index UC/11
Key SHU/SHV/SHI dishwasher parts have been changed for the softer bearing upgrade for index # UC/11 for all models. This made the dishwashers quieter through suspending the circulation pump by flexible bands instead of mounting it onto the base. Using # 264946 Front Cover to Replace Broken # 266746, # 263832 or # 264461 Control Module Buttons # 266746, # 263832 or # 264461 control modules are often replaced when buttons break, not for electronic failures. Replacing the # 264946 front cover when buttons break instead of replacing the entire control module will save customers time and money.
NOTE: The # 264946 front cover fits on all three modules - the # 266746, # 263832 and # 264461.

CAUTION: Insert display module board carefully to prevent breaking spring locking tabs on front cover. When installing display module, carefully slide top of board into top of front cover, making sure board is fully seated into tabs. Then, carefully rotate bottom of board into position so spring locking tabs spring back and lock without cracking or breaking. DO NOT FORCE bottom or top of display board into position. NOTE: The # 264946 front cover has a short lead time while control modules have long four month lead times (from Germany). Using the cover to replace broken buttons will avoid delays in obtaining parts. HINT: Use the # 264946 front cover instead of replacing an older 263832 module with a 266746 module to save customers time and money. Many 263832 modules have been replaced merely for broken buttons.
HINT: When customers report broken buttons on their dishwashers, the cause is almost always broken tabs on the front cover. The white or black buttons on the fascia panel and the control module keypad rarely fail.
CAUTION: Some pc board components are sensitive to static electricity and can be damaged by personnel through touch or close proximity. Personnel handling pc boards should be grounded. Soldering # 266746, 263832 or 264461 Control Modules for SHU/I 43/53/68 & GM 915-710 Dishwashers (excepting SHU 4322/4326)
Occasionally, a heater relay terminal soldered to a # 266746, 263832 or 264461 control module pc board can burn. Heater relays can be resoldered to save customers time and money. Please follow these instructions carefully when resoldering a heater relay terminal.
CAUTION:
Do not overheat solder joint -- pc board can be damaged by excessive heat. Make sure soldering iron is fully heated before soldering and keep heating time as short as possible. Use rosin core 60/40 solder when soldering pc boards as acid core can etch pc boards. Do NOT resolder if relay terminal or pc board is damaged -- replace entire control module. To avoid overheating pc board, use a moderately sized soldering iron (~ 25W).
Good board -- showing proper soldering on back of pc board.
Burned board -- showing burned terminal on back of pc board.
HINT:
Soldering irons give superior results compared to soldering guns - using an iron with a small tip (~ 25W) reduces possibility of damaging pc board.
CAUTION: Some pc board components are sensitive to

static electricity and can be damaged by personnel through touch or close proximity. Personnel handling pc boards should be grounded.
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Carefully clean burned terminal with a small piece of extra fine sandpaper, taking care not to scratch pc board. Use an iron with a small tip. Heat soldering iron up to temperature. Coat tip with small amount of solder. Using rosin core 60/40 solder, hold tip of hot iron to terminal and briefly touch terminal with solder. Dont use excessive amount of solder to avoid damaging pc board. Pull iron from terminal and let solder joint cool. Inspect solder joint -- a good solder joint should be shiny, not dull. If solder joint is dull, carefully resolder. If joint is sound, carefully clean finished joint with a clean cloth. Carefully remove any lint from pc board. Reinstall pc board to control module, then reinstall control module to dishwasher. Check dishwasher and make sure it operates properly, including how it heats. Wednesday, May 9, 2001

SHU/SHI/SHV Dishwasher Quick Check Chart

Use this chart to quickly identify problems from front of dishwasher without removing it. For a complete troubleshooting chart when symptoms are known, please refer to the SHU/SHI/SHV Dishwasher Troubleshooting Chart.
NOTE: Use a multimeter with temperature, voltage/resistance and current (ampere) probes. Do all resistance checks with power turned off. Identify each wire color and location at the control module before looking at this chart. For a quick reference for measuring resistances from the front of the dishwasher, please refer to the one page diagram Measuring Resistances from the Front of any SHU or SHI Dishwasher. To access wire harnesses, open door and remove outer door panel (by removing three T20 Torx screws on each side of inner door, starting from bottom -- the top six screws hold the fascia panel to the door). Once screws are out, close door, lift outer door panel up and pull bottom of panel out door panel will drop out. Please see schematic diagram #36 for SHU/I 43/53/68 model dishwashers and diagram #48 for SHV 43/48 model dishwashers in the Major Appliance Technical Manual. An "F" fault code in the display for SHU/I 53/68 dishwashers shows there's a filling problem (not filling, overfilling, underfilling or water in the base). The fault code can't be reset manually it will reset itself 15 minutes after the dishwasher has been turned on (after testing how it fills).

Resistance through water valve terminals ( 1000 ). Lift plastic terminal cover and measure resistance through drain motor terminals ( 16.5 ).
HINT: Locking type terminals are used push a small (#1) blade screwdriver into each terminal notch and slide terminal off at same time. HINT: Start test program, start any wash cycle or reset dishwasher to run drain motor -- see if water drains.
If yes
Valve may be OK more testing may be needed. Drain motor may be OK more testing may be needed.
If no
Turn off dishwasher and replace water valve. Turn off dishwasher and replace drain motor.
Drain motor
HINT: The drain motor is not a bilge pump it won't remove water from the dishwasher base.

Heater / flow switch / HiLimit thermostat o (185 F)
Measure
Current through hot wire into dishwasher should be 10.5-11 A (amps).
HINT: The resistance of heater is 11 , Hi-Limit thermostat is .3 & flow switch is .4 . To measure flow switch resistance, remove microswitch & close its contacts. HINT: The NTC and Hi-Limit o (185 F thermostat) are changed as a unit. Must pull out dishwasher and remove or block up tub to replace it.
If yes
Heater/flow switch/HiLimit thermostat are OK.
If no
Test each part, turn off dishwasher and replace defective part.
HINT: Don't pull out dishwasher and remove tub for initial checking only when you're certain one of these parts has failed. HINT: Start test program (SHU/I models) and skip "draining" and "Aqua Sensor Calibration" until water has finished filling. When heater comes on, measure current. Skip "heating & circulating" once you've measured current to save time.
HINT: Must pull out dishwasher and remove or tilt/block up tub to replace parts. Bring all three parts before disassembling dishwasher and test each part separately. HINT: The Hi-Limit o thermostat (185 F) is a bimetal self-resetting thermostat.
NTC (temperature probe)
At control module, measure resistance between two brown wires at left of right harness ( 55 k at room temperature (72oF)).
NTC probably is OK.
Turn off dishwasher and replace NTC.
HINT: Make sure water in sump has cooled to room temperature before measuring resistance.
HINT: The NTC and Hi-Limit o (185 F thermostat) are changed as a unit. Must pull out dishwasher and remove or block up tub to replace it.
Water level switch
After water fills, turn off dishwasher and measure (SHU/I models) between white wire at left of 3rd harness from left and 2nd blue wire from left of 4th harness from left ( .4 ). Resistance between white wire to water valve and white wire either at right of on/off switch harness (SHU/I models) or at left of 4th harness (SHV models) ( 4).
Water level switch is OK.

HINT: For SHV models, measure between white wire st at right of 1 harness & white th wire at left of 4 harness.
Turn off dishwasher and replace water level switch.

HINT: Must pull out dishwasher and remove left side panel to access water level switch.
Float switch
Float switch and water valve probably are OK.
Test float switch and water valve, turn off dishwasher and replace whatever part was defective.

Measure
HINT: Any debris (e.g. a cable tie) in dishwasher base can move under float and turn on float switch. Clean all debris from dishwasher base.
If yes
If no
HINT: Must pull out dishwasher and remove left side panel to access float switch.
Aqua sensor
(SHU 53-- & 68only)
Find three brown wires at far right of control module. Measure resistance between middle wire and left (preferred) or right wire ( 1 M).
HINT: Don't check this unless customer has brought up long wash times (and has measured them). The sensor checks water clarity and adds a wash/rinse cycle only when the rinse water is still dirty.
Sensor may be OK.
Turn off dishwasher and replace sensor.
HINT: The aqua sensor does not affect washability and should not be replaced (unless a leak has occurred around it).
HINT: Can also measure resistance between inner terminal (light) and either outer terminal (sensor) of sensor itself. HINT: Due to nature of sensor, resistance readings can be inconsistent.
HINT: Must pull out dishwasher and remove left side panel to access sensor (for measuring or replacing). Sensor can be pulled out of sensor assembly at rear of sump.
Circulation motor
At control module, measure resistance (SHU/I models) between white/red wire st on 1 harness from left nd & 2 blue wire from th right on 4 harness from left ( 10 ).
HINT: For SHV models, measure between white/red nd wire at left of 2 harness & th white wire at middle of 4 harness.
Circulation motor may be OK more testing may be needed (if debris entered impeller).
Turn off dishwasher and replace circulation motor.

Many parts can be snapped out without using tools. On SHU/I 43/53/68 models, run test program to identify dishwasher problems (please see page F-1). The test can run more than one hour (to get temperature up to 150oF), but tests can be cancelled to greatly shorten testing time. The test program allows draining, filling, circulating and heating to be checked more quickly than running a standard wash cycle. To use test program for troubleshooting, measure voltages/currents as parts come on. For example, run heating test and measure current coming into dishwasher if current 11A, Hi-Limit, heater and flow switch are OK. If not, check each part to see which one failed. This test saves time since you can't get to these parts without removing the tank and can't run resistance checks from front of dishwasher because flow switch stays open. Washability problems (dishwasher won't clean properly)
Possible Cause
Inappropriate dishwasher detergent used. Blocked or clogged upper/ lower spray arms. Water doesn't circulate properly due to debris in circulation motor impeller.
Suggested Action
Instruct customer to use a powdered dishwasher detergent (e.g. Cascade powder). Check spray arms clean or replace as needed. Twist and remove filter, then remove debris from right side of sump where water enters circulation pump impeller. If debris has jammed impeller, turn off and pull out dishwasher, remove tank, remove circulation motor and unscrew and clean out impeller.
HINT: If impeller is damaged, replace entire impeller assembly or it won't seal adequately.
Filter not locked down securely, allowing debris to enter sump.

CAUTION: Use caution when removing debris from sump to avoid being cut by sharp debris such as aluminum can tabs or broken glass.
Twist and remove filter, then remove debris from sump. Instruct customer to twist and lock filter (cylinder) securely into sump.
HINT: Due to high temperature rinse (161 F) breaking down food debris and triple filtering system trapping food debris, filters shouldn't normally clog up. Problem often caused by filter not being securely locked down. Instruct customer to twist and lock filter (cylinder) securely into dishwasher sump.

HINT: Water level will not affect washability as water fill is measured by pressure, not time water level cannot be adjusted.
Drain hose behind dishwasher doesn't have an adequate loop. Partially clogged air gap, allowing wastewater from prior washes to circulate in dishwasher. Water doesn't drain properly Soap doesn't enter dishwasher due to dispenser actuator (A 2) failure.

HINT: One "wax" motor operates both the detergent and rinse aid dispensers through a mechanical linkage. The system always resets when door closes. Check linkage by moving it manually. Check "wax" motor by running a continuity check on its terminals.
Too much detergent used. Improper detergent used (other than powdered dishwasher detergent). Dishwasher doesn't drain properly.
Instruct customer to use less. Instruct customer to use a powdered dishwasher detergent (e.g. Cascade powder). See Water doesn't drain properly on page D-4. Instruct customer on using rinse aid dishes won't dry without it. Unclog air gap. Make sure top of drain hose loop (behind dishwasher) is at least 20" above floor (add a loop in hose if there isn't one).

Turn off dishwasher and replace door latch instruct customer to not pull on door without pulling latch. Run test program to see if light failed (for SHU/I 43/53/68 models only see page F-1). If so, turn off dishwasher and replace indicator light.

Water in dishwasher base from leaky or loose hose. Dishwasher isn't level, causing float switch (e 6) to operate. Float switch or diaphragm (e6) failed. Debris in dishwasher base activated float switch (e6).

Turn off dishwasher, drain water manually from dishwasher base and reinstall or replace hose. Level dishwasher using front and rear leveling legs (see customer dishwasher installation instructions). Adjust customer water supply pressure (to 5-20 psi or 0.3-8.27 bars). Install appropriate piping to dishwasher (minimum 3/8" copper tanking) according to local codes. HINT: Original gasket was longer to provide a dam for tank corners. Do not trim gasket flush with sides of tank or leaking may occur.

Use a multimeter with temperature, voltage/resistance and current (ampere) probes. Do all resistance checks with power turned off. Identify each wire color and location at the control module before looking at this chart. To start test program, press and hold both SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO program buttons, then turn unit on by pressing ON/OFF button. Initially, control module version # will be displayed (e.g./ 20 = version 0 without jumper). When wash program buttons are released, lights above them will flash. To end test program, press ON/OFF button. To check each program indicator light, press its button. To check Cycle Countdown display, Refill Rinse Agent light and REGULAR WASH light, press REGULAR WASH button (press Delay Start button to test Cycle Countdown display alone). Cycle Countdown display will show "88" when REGULAR WASH button is pressed and "8h" when Delay Start button is pressed. To start testing, press both SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO buttons a second time. When testing has ended, Cycle Countdown display will show a fault using codes below. WARNING
To avoid possible injury or property damage, OBSERVE ALL WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS. These instructions are intended for use by qualified installers only. The dishwasher must be installed by a qualified service technician. In addition to these instructions, the dishwasher shall be installed to meet all electrical and plumbing codes and ordinances (both national and local). Read these installation instructions completely and follow them carefully. They will save you time and effort and help to ensure safety and optimum dishwasher performance.
If the dishwasher is installed in a location that experiences freezing temperatures (e.g., in a holiday home), you must drain all the water from the dishwashers interior. Water system ruptures that occur as a result of freezing are not covered by warranty.
IMPORTANT The dishwasher drain hose must be installed with a portion of it at least 20 (508mm) off the cabinet floor; otherwise the dishwasher may not drain properly. This dishwasher is intended for residential use only, and should not be used in commercial food service establishments. NEW INSTALLATION - If the dishwasher is a new installation, most of the work must be done before the dishwasher is moved into place. REPLACEMENT - If the dishwasher is replacing another dishwasher, check the existing dishwasher connections for compatibility with the new dishwasher, and replace parts as necessary. This appliance has been found to be in compliance with CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 167/UL 749. It is the responsibility of the owner and the installer to determine if additional requirements and standards apply in specific installations. Inspect the Dishwasher After unpacking the dishwasher and prior to installation, thoroughly inspect the dishwasher for possible freight or cosmetic damage. Report any damage immediately. Cosmetic defects must be reported within 30 days of installation. NOTE: Do not discard any bags or items that come with the original package until after the entire installation has been completed.

Hot Water Supply Line - Minimum 3/8 O.D. copper tubing or metal braided dishwasher supply line. Shut-off valve and fittings appropriate for hot water supply line (copper tubing/ compression fitting, or braided hose). 90 elbow with 3/8 N.P.T. male threads on one leg, and sized to fit your water supply line (copper tubing/compression fitting, or braided hose) on the other leg. Teflon tape or other pipe thread compound to seal plumbing connections. UL listed conduit connector or strain relief.

Select a location as close to the sink as possible for easy access to water supply and drain lines. For proper dishwasher operation and appearance, ensure that the enclosure is square and has the dimensions shown in Figure 1. If the dishwasher is to be installed in a corner, make sure that there is adequate clearance to open the door. See Figure 2.

Electrical Shock/Fire Hazard To avoid electric shock or fire, do not allow the electrical and water supply lines to touch. Separate channels are provided under the dishwasher (see page 10). If the enclosure requires openings for the electrical supply cable, hot water supply line, and dishwasher drain hose, place them within the dimensions shown by the shaded area of Figure 3 to avoid interference with the dishwasher frame or other components. Make the openings for the electrical supply cable and hot water supply line 1 (25.4mm) diameter. Make the opening for the dishwasher drain hose 1-1/4 (32mm) diameter. If the openings are made through wood, sand them smooth. If the openings are made through metal, make them large enough to accommodate grommets or other protective sheaths with inside diameters of 1 (25.4mm) for the electrical supply cable and the hot water supply line, and 1-1/4 (32mm) for the dishwasher drain hose.

Electrical Supply The customer has the responsibility of ensuring that the dishwasher electrical installation is in compliance with all national and local electrical codes and ordinances. The dishwasher is designed for an electrical supply of 120V, 60 Hz, AC, connected to a dishwasher-dedicated, properly grounded electrical circuit with a fuse or breaker rated for 15 amps. Electrical supply conductors shall be a minimum #14 AWG copper wire rated at 75C or higher. Regardless of where the electrical supply cable enters the enclosure, position the cable 21 (533mm) from the enclosures left side, as shown in Figure 4. Extend the cable 30 (762mm) from the enclosures back, as shown in Figure 4. Remove 3 - 4 (76mm - 102mm) of the cables outer casing, as shown in Figure 5, then remove 3/8 - 1/2 (10 - 13mm) of insulation from each wire, as shown in Figure 5.

Temperatures required for soldering and sweating will damage the dishwashers base and water inlet valve. If plumbing lines are to be soldered or sweated, keep the heat source at least 6 inches (152.4 mm) away from the dishwashers base and water inlet valve. Hot Water Supply The hot water heater should be set to deliver approximately 120 F (49 C) water to the dishwasher. Water that is too hot can cause some detergents to lose effectiveness. Lower water temperatures will increase run times. The hot water supply pressure must be between 15 - 145 psi (1 - 10 bar). Hot Water Supply Plumbing Install an easily accessible shut-off valve (not supplied) in the hot water supply line, as shown in Figure 6. All solder connections must be made before the water line is connected to the dishwashers water inlet valve. Water may also be supplied to the dishwasher by using a stainless steel braided hose approved for dishwasher use. Check with your local plumbing supply sources for the proper hose and 90 elbow fitting. NOTE: Regardless of where the hot water supply line enters the enclosure, position the line 14 (356mm) from the enclosures left side, as shown in Figure 6. NOTE: Decide whether stainless steel braided hose approved for dishwasher use or copper tubing will be used for the hot water supply plumbing, and purchase the correct type of hot water supply shut-off valve, 90 elbow, and necessary fittings for the hot water supply plumbing.

Drain Plumbing Under Sink Drain Connection If the dishwasher is to drain either directly into the household drain plumbing or through an air gap, install a y-branch tailpiece under the sink as shown in Figure 7. Installing an Air Gap If local ordinances require an air gap, as shown in Figure 8, install it according to the manufacturers instructions. Disposer Make sure to remove the disposers dishwasher drain connection plug before connecting the dishwasher drain hose. See Figure 9.

Step 1
Before installing the supplied countertop mounting brackets, decide which method of securing the dishwasher into its enclosure will be used. Once the mounting brackets are installed on the dishwasher, removing them is difficult and will damage the mounting brackets and the dishwasher. The dishwasher can be secured into its enclosure in two ways: 1 Top Mount is used for countertops made of wood or other materials that can easily drilled. Orient the mounting brackets as shown in Figure 10, and position the two small tabs on the mounting brackets over the two slots on the dishwashers front corners. Push the mounting brackets down firmly to insert the tabs into the slots. 2 Side Mount is used for countertops made of marble, granite, or other very hard materials that cannot be easily drilled. Bend the mounting brackets along the small holes and in the same direction as the two small tabs. Orient the mounting brackets as shown in Figure 11, and position the two small tabs on the mounting brackets over the two slots on the dishwashers front corners. Push the mounting brackets down firmly to insert the tabs into the slots.

Plastic Base Access Panel
When any covers are removed or the dishwasher is out of the cabinet, electrical power and sharp edges or points may be exposed. Removing the Toe Panel Regular Toe Panel The toe panel is loosely attached with tape. Remove the tape and pull the toe panel away from the dishwasher. Set the toe panel aside. It will be reinstalled later. Plastic Base Access Panel and Toe Panel (SHY66C, SHX99A, SHE66C, SHE99C and SHX57C models only) The plastic base access panel and toe panel are in place on the dishwasher, but are not attached. Remove the toe panel first, as shown in Figure 12, then remove the plastic base access panel, as shown in Figure 12.

Do not overtighten the 90 elbow. Doing so may damage the water inlet valve and cause a water leak. Installing the 90 Elbow Fitting NOTE: The 90 elbow fitting is not supplied with the dishwasher, and must be purchased separately. If the dishwashers hot water supply line is to be copper tubing, make certain the elbow has a compression fitting. Apply Teflon tape or other pipe sealant when required. Orient the hot water supply connection leg of the elbow toward the channel opening in the dishwasher base. See Figure 13. Junction Box Preparation 1 Remove junction box cover (see Figure 14) by lifting the junction box cover up and off. 2 Remove the strain relief plate by removing the screw at the back of the junction box, as shown in Figure 15 and sliding the strain relief plate out. 3 Set the junction box cover, strain relief plate, and screw aside. They will be re-installed later.

DOOR PANEL INSTALLATION

SHU/SHE Models - Accessory Panel Installation If you have an SHU/SHE model and have ordered an accessory panel kit, install the panel prior to sliding the dishwasher into place. The panel dimensions are shown in Figure 16. SHI Models - Panel Installation SHI models come with additional mounting hardware and a template sheet with installation instructions. The stainless steel models of the SHI series also come with two extension pieces. The extension pieces are used to match the control panel height (Figure 17, B dimension) to the horizontal drawer line of the cabinets, and must be installed as shown in on the template sheet. The standard piece is used for drawer heights up to 6 (152mm); the long piece is used for drawer heights greater than 6 (152mm) but 6-7/16 (164mm) or less. If your drawers are taller than 6-7/16, you can either slide the extension piece in as far as it will go, or remove it and fit the door panel directly below the control panel. SHI/SHV Models - Panel Installation SHV models come with additional mounting hardware and a template sheet that will show you how to mount the panel. One side of the template shows how to mount a one piece panel; the other side shows how to mount a two piece panel. Decide which type of installation you want before proceeding with the installation.

PLACING THE DISHWASHER

1 Straighten and position the hot water supply line and the electrical supply cable as shown in Figure 19 so that they will align with their channels under the dishwasher base. 2 Position the dishwasher close enough to the enclosure so that you can run the dishwasher drain hose to the under sink drain connection. Make certain that the hot water supply line and the electrical supply cable are in their channels under the dishwasher base, as shown in Figure 20. 3 Slide the dishwsher into the opening making sure that the hot water supply line and the electrical supply cable stay in their proper channels. 4 Make sure the dishwasher is level. Adjust the rear leveler by turning the center screw at the front of the dishwasher, as shown in Figure 21a. Turning the screw clockwise raises the rear of the dishwasher. Adjust the front levelers by turning them with a screwdriver, as shown in Figure 21b. Turning the levelers to the right raises the dishwasher. If additional height is needed, shims may be added under the leveler feet.

2 After the unit is installed in the enclosure, leveled and secured, lock the two front leg levelers in place by driving the enclosed leg leveler locking screws into each screw boss located in front of the levelers. See Figure 23. 3 Tighten screws until they are flush with the surface of the bosses.

1 Obtain the Rubber Drain Hose Adaptor and the two hose clamps from the Dishwasher Installation Kit. 2 On one outside end of the Rubber Drain Hose Adapter is a raised rib. Insert the drain hose into the end without the raised rib. Be sure to fully insert the drain hose. 3 Secure the connection with the Silver Spring Clamp. 4 Use the Gold Screw Clamp to attach the Rubber Drain Hose Adaptor to the house plumbing.

The dishwasher drain hose may be connected to the drain plumbing in one of four ways: 1 Directly to the undersink dishwasher drain connection, as shown in Figure 24. 2 Directly to a disposer dishwasher drain connection, as shown in Figure 25. 3 To the undersink dishwasher drain connection through an air gap, as shown in Figure 26. 4 To a disposer dishwasher drain connection through an air gap, as shown on Figure 27. Information on installing air gaps and disposers can be found in the Plumbing Preparation section of this manual.

NOTE: If the dishwasher drain hose is to be connected to a disposer dishwasher drain connection, remove the plug from the disposers dishwasher drain connection. Use the supplied Rubber Drain Hose Adaptor and Drain Hose Clamps to connect the dishwasher drain hose to the plumbing drain connection. Use the spring clamp to secure the Rubber Drain Hose Adaptor to the dishwasher drain hose. Use the screw clamp to secure the Rubber Drain Hose Adaptor to the plumbing drain connection. The dishwasher drain hose must have one place along its length that is securely attached 20 inches above the cabinet floor.

The hot water supply line may be connected to the dishwasher in one of two ways: 1 With braided hose. 2 With copper tubing. Stainless Steel Braided Hose Approved for Dishwasher Use. After connections are made turn on the hot water supply to check for leaks. NOTE: Braided dishwasher supply hoses can also be used to extend pre-existing dishwasher water supply lines. Copper Tubing

If using a solder joint instead of a compression fitting, be sure to make all solder connections before connecting the water line to the dishwasher. Make certain there are no sharp bends or kinks in the water line that might restrict water flow. Be sure to use pipe thread compound or Teflon tape to seal the connection when required. Before connecting the copper hot water supply line to the dishwasher, flush it with hot water to clear any foreign material. Turn on the water supply to check for leaks after making connections. NOTE: Do not use pipe sealant on compression fittings.

Grounding Instructions The dishwasher must be properly grounded before operating. This appliance must be connected to a grounded metal permanent wiring system, or an equipment grounding conductor must be run with the circuit conductors and connected to the equipment grounding terminal or lead on the dishwasher. Make sure that the dishwasher is connected to a suitable ground in compliance with all local codes or, in the absence of a local code, with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE in the United States or the CANADIAN ELECTRIC CODE C22.1-latest edition in Canada as well as any provincial/ state or municipal or local codes that apply. 1 Retrieve the strain relief plate, and install a strain relief (not supplied) into the opening on the strain relief plate. NOTE: Orient the strain relief as shown in Figure 28. 2 Pass the electrical supply cable through the strain relief, as shown in Figure 29. Make sure the outer wire casing extends about 1/2 (13mm) through the strain relief. 3 Tighten the strain relief screws. 4 Slide the strain relief plate into the junction box, and secure it to the junction box with the supplied screw.

Fire Hazard To avoid a fire hazard, make sure there are no loose electrical connections. Make sure all electrical connections are properly made. Do not pre-twist the wires before connecting them with wire nuts. Extend the dishwashers stranded wires 1/8 (3mm) beyond the power supply cables solid wires, as shown in Figure 30. 5 Using the supplied wire nuts, connect the electrical supply wires to the dishwashers wires, black to black, white to white, and green or bare. Make certain that the insulated wires show no bare wire from the bottoms of the wire nuts. Gently tug the wires to make certain they are securely connected. 6 Press the wires into the junction box as shown in Figure 31. Make certain that the wire nuts do not loosen. 7 Place the cover on the junction box and secure it to the junction box with the supplied screw.

DOOR TENSION ADJUSTMENT (only on SHI and SHV models with custom door panels)
After the dishwasher and custom door panel are installed, open and close the door several times to make sure that it does so with ease. If the door falls open too quickly, the spring tension needs to be adjusted. To Adjust the Spring Tension: 1 Obtain the provided Spring Tension Screws from the SHI/SHV Door Panel Installation Kit. 2 Insert the screws as shown in Figure 32. Turning the screw clockwise increases the spring tension.

Regular Toe Panel Installation Use the toe panel screws from the Dishwasher Installation Kit and a T-20 screwdriver to install the toe panel as shown in Figure 33.

Plastic Base Access Panel and Toe Panel Installation (SHY66C, SHX99A, SHE66C, SHE99C, SHX57C, and SHV57C models only) 1 Place the Plastic Base Access Panel under and up the front bottom panel of the dishwasher, as shown in Figure 34a. 2 Insert the Plastic Base Access Panel screws into the Plastic Base Access Panel, as shown in Figure 34b. Tighten the Plastic Base Access Panel Screws. 3 Place the Cotton Insulation Strip under the unit, between the bottom of the Plastic Base Access Panel and the floor, as shown in Figure 34c. 4 Attach the Toe Panel to the Plastic Base Access Panel using the Toe Panel Screws included in the Toe Panel Installation Kit. See Figure 34d. NOTE: You will not use the normal Toe Panel Screws included in the Dishwasher Installation Kit on these models.

In some conditions, Hydrogen gas can form in a hot water system that has not been used for weeks. Hydrogen gas is explosive. Before filling a dishwasher from a system that has been off for weeks, run the water from a nearby faucet in a well ventilated area until there is no sound or evidence of gas.

Use this dishwasher only for its intended function, which is the washing of household dishware and kitchenware. This dishwasher is provided with a manual set which includes Installation Instructions and Use and Care Manual. Read and understand all instructions before using the dishwasher. Use only detergents or wetting agents recommended for use in a dishwasher, and keep them out of the reach of childen. When loading items to be washed: - Locate sharp items so that they are not likely to damage the door seal. - Load knives and other sharp utensils with their HANDLES UP to reduce the risk of cut-type injuries. Do not wash plastic items unless they are marked dishwasher safe or the equivalent.
For plastic items not so marked, check the manufacturers recommendations. Do not operate your dishwasher unless all enclosure panels are in place. Do not tamper with or override controls and interlocks. Do not abuse, sit on, or stand on the door or dish racks of the dishwasher. To reduce the risk of injury, do not allow children to play in or on the dishwasher. Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a hot water system that has not been used for two weeks or more. Hydrogen gas is explosive. Before using a dishwasher that is connected to a hot water system that has been unused for two weeks or longer, turn on all hot water faucets and let the water flow from each for several minutes. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas. As the gas is explosive, do not smoke or use an open flame during this time. Remove the door to the washing compartment when removing an old dishwasher from service or discarding. To avoid floor damage and possible mold growth, do not allow wet areas to remain around or under the dishwasher. Protect your dishwasher from the elements. Protect against freezing to avoid possible damage to the fill valve. Damage caused by freezing is not covered by the warranty.

Sanitized Indicator Light: An LED indicator light will illuminate to alert you that your dishes are sanitized to the standards of the National Sanitation Foundation. Auto Wash: The sensors determine the soil load and automatically adjust the cycle to clean your dishes while conserving energy (not included on SHE44C). Delay Start (SHE46C/SHE56C only): Allows you to delay the start of the dishwasher up to 19 hours. Top Rack Only Cycle (SHE46C only): Saves energy, water, and detergent by washing loads small enough to fill only the top rack. Water Shut-Off: A safety feature that stops the flow of incoming water, if water is detected in the base of the dishwasher.
Dishware Materials
NOTE: Before using your dishwasher for the first time, check the information in this section. Some items are not dishwasher safe and should be hand-washed; others require special loading. Contact the items manufacturer if you are unsure about the items dishwasher suitability.
Preparing and Loading the Dishware

Dishware Preparation
Do not pre-wash items having loosely-attached soiling. Remove large food particles, bones, seeds, toothpicks, and excessive grease. Items having burned-on, baked-on or starchy soils may require pre-treatment.
Recommended
Aluminum: Colored anodized aluminum may fade over time. Minerals in your water may cause the aluminum to darken or spot. This can usually be removed by using a soap-filled steel wool pad. China, Crystal, Stoneware: Some hand-painted pieces may discolor, fade, or spot. Hand-wash these pieces. Position fragile glassware so that it will not topple over or contact other pieces during the wash cycle. Glass: Milk glass may yellow. Non-Stick Coatings: Apply a light coating of vegetable oil to non-stick surfaces after drying. Plastics: Make sure the piece is dishwasher safe. Stainless Steel, Sterling Silver, and Silver Plate: Place these pieces so that they do not contact dissimilar metals.
Loading the Dishwasher

To avoid dishwasher damage, do not load the dishwasher with objects such as paper products, plastic bags, packing materials, or anything other than normal dishware and kitchenware. Do not load the dishwasher with anything other than dishwasher-safe dishware and kitchenware. Check the Materials section of this manual if you are unsure about an items dishwasher suitability. Load only dishwasher-safe items into the dishwasher. Load dishes in the dishwasher racks so that the insides of bowls, pots, and pans are facing the spray arms. Avoid nesting and contact points between dishes. Separate items of dissimilar metals.
Not Recommended
Acrylic: Crazing (small cracks throughout the acrylic) may occur. Adhesive-Joined Pieces: Adhesives that join materials such as plastic, wood, bone, steel copper, tin, etc. may loosen. Bone-Handled Utensils: Handles may separate. Iron: Iron will rust. Hand-wash and dry immediately. Non-Dishware Items: Your dishwasher is intended for use in cleaning ONLY standard household dishware and kitchenware. Pewter, Brass, Bronze: Pewter will tarnish. Hand-wash and dry immediately. Tin: Tin will rust. Hand-wash and dry immediately. Wood: Wooden bowls, wooden utensils, and wood-handled utensils can crack, warp, and lose their finish.

Loading the Top Rack

Top Rack Accessories

Top Rack Only Cycle (SHE46C only) This cycle allows you to save energy, water, and detergent by washing loads small enough to fill only the upper rack.
NOTE: The Top Rack Only cycle does not reduce wash time.
To use the Top Rack Only cycle: 1. Load the top rack. 2. Press the On/Off button. 3. Press the button for the desired wash cycle. 4. Press the Top Rack Only button.
Loading the Bottom Rack

Place large items in the bottom rack. Load pots and pans upside-down. Figure 9 Figures 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 show typical mixed loads for the bottom rack.
NOTE: When pushing the top rack into the dishwasher, push it until it stops against the back of the tub so the top rack spray arm will connect to the water supply.
Top Rack Height Adjustment Remove the empty upper rack by pulling it out of the dishwasher to the point that it can be lifted upward, as shown in Figure 7. Pull the rack outward and up until the rollers are completely free of the roller guides. Re-insert the rack with the other set of rollers on the roller guides, as shown in Figure 8.

Bottom Rack Accessories

Loading Extra Tall Items

If an item is too tall to be placed into the bottom rack even with the top rack in the raised position, remove the empty top rack by pulling it out of the dishwasher until it stops rolling. Pull the front of the rack upward and outward until the rollers Figure 15 are completely free of the roller guides. Set the top rack aside. Push the roller guides back into the dishwasher. Insert the Extra Tall Item Sprinkler into the top rack spray outlet and turn the sprinkler clockwise to lock it into position as shown in Figure 15. NOTE: Keep the vent on the tubs right side clear by placing tall items such as plastic cutting boards and tall baking sheets on the bottom rack's left side, center, or back.

Loading the Silverware Basket
CAUTION
The sharp points and edges of knives and other sharp utensils can cause serious injuries. Load knives and other sharp utensils with sharp points and edges down. Do not allow children to handle or play near knives and sharp utensils. Keep children away from knives and other sharp utensils.
NOTE: The silverware basket tops can be folded up to accommodate large or oddly-shaped items.
With the silverware basket tops down, load the silverware basket following the patterns suggested in Figures 17 and 18 (depending on model). Place knives with their handles up, and forks and spoons with their handles down. If large or oddly-shaped items are to be loaded into the silverware basket with the tops up, load the items so that they do not nest together. Load knives and sharp utensils with their handles up.

To avoid dishwasher damage, do not reinstall the top rack without removing the extra tall item sprinkler. Do not reinstall the top rack with the sprinkler installed. To remove the sprinkler and return the dishwasher to its normal condition: 1. Turn the sprinkler counterclockwise and remove it. 2. Retrieve the top rack. 3. Tilt the top rack upwards and position the top rack rollers onto the roller guides. 4. Continue pushing the top rack until the rollers are on the guide. 5. Push the top rack into the dishwasher.
The Standard Silverware Basket (SHE44C02 only)

The Flexible Silverware Basket (SHE46C/SHE56C only)
This basket is designed for maximum versatility. The basket splits along its length, resulting in two halves that may be placed in a variety of positions in the lower rack, greatly increasing the lower racks loading versatility. To split the Flexible Silverware Basket: 1. Grasp the basket as shown in Figure 19A, and slide the two halves in opposite directions, as shown in Figure 19A. 2. Pull the two halves apart, as shown in Figure 19B.

Adding Detergent and Rinse Agent

Detergent
To avoid dishwasher damage, do not use hand dishwashing products in your dishwasher. Use only detergent specifically designed for dishwashers. For best results, use fresh powdered dishwashing detergent. This dishwasher uses less water so you need to use less detergent. With soft water, 1 tablespoon (15ml) of detergent will clean most loads. The detergent dispenser cup has lines that measure detergent to 1 tablespoon (15ml) and 1.75 tablespoons (25ml). 3.5 tablespoons (45ml) of detergent will completely fill the detergent dispenser cup.

Rinse Agents
To achieve proper drying, always use a liquid rinse agent, even if your detergent contains a rinse agent or drying additive.
NOTE: If you do not know the hardness of your water supply, use 15ml of detergent. Increase the amount of detergent, if necessary, to the least amount required to get your dishware and kitchenware clean.
Use the measuring lines in the detergent dispenser cup as a guide to measure the amount of detergent recommended in Table 1.
Filling the Detergent Dispenser

Fill the dispenser cup as recommend in Table 1. Slide the Figure 21 detergent dispenser cover in the direction shown in Figure 21A and press it down firmly as shown in Figure 21B so that the cover snaps shut.

Refill the rinse agent dispenser when the rinse agent reservoir level indicator as shown in Figure 24B begins to show a silver background with black lines or when the Refill Rinse Agent indicator comes on.
NOTE: After filling the rinse agent dispenser, the Refill Rinse Agent Indicator will go out in a few minutes after the dishwasher door is shut.
Rinse Agent Dispenser Regulator

The amount of rinse agent dispensed can be regulated to control spotting and streaking. The Rinse Agent Dispenser Regulator as shown in Figure 25 leaves our factory set at 4.

Filling the Rinse Agent Dispenser

Open the rinse agent dispenser by pressing the star on the cover with your index finger while lifting the tab with your thumb as shown in Figure 23.

Add liquid rinse agent to the dispenser as shown in Figure 24A until the rinse agent reservoir is full. Wipe up any excess rinse agent that puddles when the dispenser reservoir is full.

To adjust the amount of rinse agent dispensed: 1. Open the rinse agent dispenser cover. 2. If your dishes are streaked after washing, turn the regulator to a lower number. 3. If your dishes are spotted after washing, turn the regulator to a higher number.

Operating the Dishwasher

Selecting the Proper Wash Cycle
Items with baked-on or hard, dried-on soiling will require either Power Scrub Plus or possibly soaking and hand-scouring. The Regular Wash cycle will thoroughly clean large loads having loosely attached normal soiling. The Rinse and Hold cycle will allow you to keep a small load in your dishwasher until you have enough items for a full load.
Interrupting a Cycle
NOTE: Should you need to interrupt a cycle (to add or remove an item, to add detergent, etc.), it is best to do so within the first 30 minutes of the cycle.
Press the On/Off button.
WARNING
You could be seriously scalded if you open the dishwasher door quickly during a wash or rinse cycle. Do not fully open the dishwasher door for at least 10 seconds or until water noises stop. Wait at least ten seconds or until water noises stop before opening the dishwasher door. To resume the cycle, press the On/Off button and shut the dishwasher door.
To avoid damage to delicate or heirloom items do not wash them in your dishwasher. For delicate or heirloom dishware and silverware, or other special items, select Delicate/Econo after referring to the Materials section of this manual. Hand-washing may be the best treatment of such items. More information on dishwasher cycles is in the Wash Cycle Information section of this manual.
Canceling or Changing a Cycle

To cancel or change a cycle, press and hold for three seconds the two buttons labeled Cancel Drain as shown in Figure 26.

Starting the Dishwasher

Shut the dishwasher door. Press the On/Off button. Press the button for the desired wash cycle. The dishwasher will start automatically and continue operating until the end of the selected cycle. Once you start the dishwasher, leave the dishwasher door shut until it finishes the cycle.
Cancel Drain
Wait approximately one minute, then press the On/Off button. You may now begin a new cycle.

Dishware Drying
At the end of the cycle the dishwasher will stop and a period of condensation drying will follow. After 12 - 15 minutes of drying: the cycle countdown display will read 0. the Sanitized light may appear (except in the Rinse and Hold cycle). See section on Sanitization for more information.

Sanitized Light
When the Sanitized light appears, it means that the dishware and kitchenware that was just washed has been sanitized according to the requirements of the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). For more information on NSF certification, go to the Wash Cycle Information section of this manual.
NOTE: If your household water supply is too hot, your dishwashers heating time may be reduced and the Sanitized light may not illuminate. Your Bosch Dishwasher Installation Manual has information on the recommended temperature for your household hot water supply. NOTE: To accelerate and enhance drying, open the dishwasher door, pull the top rack a few inches out of the dishwasher, and prop the dishwasher door against the top rack.
Unloading the Dishwasher

Unload the bottom rack first. Unload the silverware basket(s). They are easily removed for unloading. Unload the top rack. If the Extra Tall Item Sprinkler was installed, return the dishwasher to its normal condition (see the Loading Extra Tall Items instructions in the Loading the Dishwasher section of this manual).
OPTIDRY
This feature senses when the unit is low on rinse agent and automatically adjusts the drying performance.
Additional Drying Heat

With this option you can raise the temperature of the rinse water and increase the drying time, which will result in improved drying. Press and hold the left Cancel Drain button, then press and hold the On/Off button. When the LED display shows a 0 or a 1, release both buttons. To enable the Additional Drying Heat, press the left Cancel Drain button until the LED display shows a 1. To disable the Additional Drying Heat, press the left Cancel Drain button until the LED display shows a 0. Press the On/Off button to save the setting.

Care and Maintenance

Maintenance Tasks
Certain areas of your Bosch dishwasher require occasional maintenance. The maintenance tasks are easy to do and will ensure continued superior performance from your Bosch dishwasher. These tasks are: Winterizing Your Bosch Dishwasher Wiping up Spills and Splash-out Clean the Stainless Steel Inner Door and Tub Check/Clean the Spray Arm Nozzles Check/Clean the Filter System Clean the Exterior Door Panel Clean the Door Gasket
Check/Clean the Stainless Steel Inner Door and Tub

Clean the outer edges of the inside door panel regularly to remove debris that might collect there from normal loading. If spots begin to appear on the stainless steel tub or inner door, make sure the rinse agent reservoir is full.
Check/Clean the Spray Arm Nozzles

Occasionally check the spray arms to ensure that the spray arm nozzles (holes) are unobstructed. You must remove the spray arms to check them for obstruction. To remove the top spray arm: 1. Remove the empty top rack from the dishwasher.

Winterizing Your Bosch Dishwasher

If your dishwasher will be unused for an extended period of time in a location that experiences freezing temperatures (e.g., in a holiday home or through a vacation period), have your dishwasher winterized by an authorized service center.
To avoid dishwasher damage, do not allow water to remain in your dishwasher systems through extended periods of freezing temperatures. Freezing temperatures can damage your dishwasher.
Wiping Up Spills and Splash-out

Water may occasionally splash out of your Bosch dishwasher, especially if you interrupt a cycle or open the dishwasher door during a cycle. To avoid floor damage and possible mold growth, do not allow wet areas to remain around or under the dishwasher.
2. Turn the rack upsidedown. The top spray arm is held B in position by a locking nut as shown in Figure 27A. Turn the locking nut counter-clockwise 1/8 turn and remove it, as shown in Figure 27B to release the spray arm. 3. Remove Figure 28 the spray arm as shown in Figure 28. 4. Look for obstruction in the spray nozzles. 5. If the spray nozzles need cleaning, flush them under running water.

To remove the Large Object Trap/Cylinder Filter Assembly: 1. Remove the bottom rack. 2. Grasp the assembly as shown in Figure 30, and turn it counterclockwise 1/4 turn.

Large Object Trap Cylinder Filter Assembly
3. Look for obstruction in the spray nozzles. 4. If the spray nozzles need cleaning, flush them under running water. To reinstall the bottom spray arm: 1. Return the bottom spray arm to its installed position and press it so that it snaps into place. 2. Return the bottom rack to its installed position. To avoid injury, do not reach into the large object trap with your fingers. The large object trap could contain sharp objects. 4. Carefully examine the assembly. If you find debris in the Large Object Trap, turn it upside-down and gently tap it on a surface such as a countertop to dislodge and remove the debris. Flush the Cylinder Filter clean by holding it under running water.
Check/Clean the Filter System

Your Bosch dishwashers has a filter system that is made up of a Large Object Trap/Cylinder Filter assembly and a Fine Filter. The filter system is located on the dishwasher floor and is easily accessible. During normal use the filter system is selfcleaning, but you should occasionally inspect it for foreign objects and clean it when necessary.

To Remove the Fine Filter: Lift the Fine Filter from the dishwasher floor as shown in Figure 32 and flush it clean by holding it under running water.

To avoid possible dishwasher damage, do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, scouring pads (metal or plastic), or abrasive cloths/paper towels to clean your dishwashers exterior door panel. Your dishwashers exterior door panel can be damaged by doing so.
Clean the Exterior Door Panel

Colored Doors
To reinstall the filter system: 1. Return the Fine Filter to its installed position. 2. Place the Large Object Trap/Fine Filter Assembly into its installed position in the dishwasher floor. 3. Turn the ring handle clockwise 1/4 turn until it is locked. The arrow on the ring handle and the arrow on the Fine Filter should point to each other, as shown by the circle in Figure 33.

Use only a soft cloth that is lightly dampened with soapy water.
Stainless Steel Doors

Use a soft cloth with a non-abrasive cleaner (preferably a liquid spray) made for cleaning stainless steel. For the best results, apply the stainless steel cleaner to the cloth, then wipe the surface.
Clean the Door Gasket

Regularly clean the door gasket with a damp cloth to remove food particles and other debris.
4. Gently pull the ring handle to ensure that the assembly is locked into place.

Self Help
Dishwashers may occasionally exhibit problems that are unrelated to a malfunction of the dishwasher itself. The following information may help you with a dishwasher problem without your having to call a repair person. Dishes do not dry The rinse agent dispenser may be empty. Check the rinse-aid dispenser and refill it if necessary. Dishware drying can be accelerated and enhanced by opening the dishwasher door slightly and propping it open with the top rack. Indicator light(s) do not come on A fuse may have blown or a circuit breaker tripped. Check the fuse or circuit breaker at your fuse box/breaker box and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if necessary. Dishwasher does not start The dishwasher door may not be properly shut. Make certain the dishwasher door is shut and latched. Dishwasher runs a long time If the dishwasher completes the cycle, but the run time seems exceptionally long, it may be due to cold incoming water. Before starting the dishwasher, open the hot water faucet at the sink nearest the dishwasher. Run the water until it runs hot, then turn off the water and start the dishwasher. Machine cycle does not advance to rinse NOTE: The Installation Manual that came with your Bosch dishwasher will help you with the following instructions. The water supply line may be shut off. Check the water supply valve and open it if its shut. White spots left on dishes More rinse agent is needed. Go to the Adding Detergent and Rinse Agent section of this manual for instructions on increasing the amount of rinse agent dispensed. Water not pumped from dishwasher Make certain the drain hose isnt kinked, clogged, or improperly installed. Make certain a portion of the drain hose is at least 20 inches above the dishwashers enclosure floor (see the Installation Manual). Filters may be clogged. Make certain the filter system isnt clogged (see the Care and Maintenance section of this manual). The kitchen sink drain may be clogged; you may need a plumber rather than a serviceman for the dishwasher. If an air gap is installed at sink, it may be clogged. Detergent dispenser cover will not shut You may not be correctly shutting the detergent dispenser cover, or a cycle was not finished and should be cancelled. Go to the Adding Detergent and Rinse Agent section of this manual for instructions on shutting the detergent dispenser cover. Go to the Operating the Dishwasher section of this manual for instructions on canceling a cycle. Streaks on glassware Too much rinse agent is being dispensed. Go to the Adding Detergent and Rinse Agent section of this manual for instructions on decreasing the amount of rinse agent dispensed. Rattling noises Utensils may not be properly arranged. Suds in dishwasher You may have used the wrong type of dishwashing detergent. Use only automatic dishwasher detergents. Unsatisfactory washing results Incorrect amount of detergent. Utensils incorrectly arranged or rack overloaded. Spray arm rotation blocked by utensils. Spray arm nozzles need cleaning. Filters not properly fitted into position. Unsuitable cycle selected.

NOTE: Cycle duration and water consumption depend largely upon household water temperature and wash load, factors over which Bosch has no control. Therefore, the times and quantities in this charts are approximate.

THE NSF SYMBOL

A dishwasher or a dishwasher cycle that has the NSF symbol has been certified by the NSF International to meet very strict requirements of wash time and water temperature to ensure dishware and kitchenware sanitization. These requirements are explained in the document NSF/ANSI 184, Residential Dishwashers. More information on NSF Certification is available at the NSF website, http://www.nsfconsumer.org/home/ appliances.asp. Your Bosch dishwasher is NSF certified. The Bosch dishwasher cycles that are NSF certified are shown in the chart above. When these cycles are complete, the Sanitized indicator on your dishwasher control panel will illuminate.
NOTE: If your household water supply is too hot, your dishwashers heating time may be reduced and the Sanitized light or symbol may not illuminate. Your Bosch Dishwasher Installation Manual has information on the recommended temperature for your household hot water supply.

Repair service must be performed by an Authorized Bosch Service Center (All cosmetic defects must be reported within 30 days of installation). 2 Year Limited Warranty from Date of Installation*: Bosch will provide replacement parts free of charge for any component part that proves defective under conditions of normal home use, labor charges excluded. 5 Year Limited Warranty on Electronics from Date of Installation*: Bosch will repair or replace any microprocessor or printed circuit boards that prove defective under conditions of normal home use during the second through the fifth year from the date of installation, labor charges excluded. 5 Year Limited Warranty from Date of Installation*: Bosch will replace the upper or lower dish rack (excluding rack components) free of charge, if the rack proves defective in materials or workmanship under conditions of normal home use during the second through the fifth year, labor charges excluded. Lifetime Warranty against Stainless Steel Rust Through from Date of Installation: Bosch will replace your dishwasher with the same model or a current model that is equivalent or better in functionality if the inner liner should rust through under conditions of normal home use, labor charges excluded. Bosch will replace the stainless steel door of any dishwasher if the door should rust through under conditions of normal home use, labor charges excluded. EXCLUSIONS: This warranty does not cover service calls or repairs to correct the installation of the dishwasher, to provide instructions on the use of your dishwasher, to replace fuses or to correct plumbing or the electric wiring in your home or to repair any dishwasher the use of which was in a manner other than what is normal and customary for home use. In addition, the warranties provided in this Statement exclude any defects or damage arising from accident, alteration, misuse, abuse, improper installation, unauthorized service work, external forces beyond Boschs control, such as fire, flood, and other acts of God, or installation not in accordance with local electrical or plumbing codes. Labor charges incurred in the repair or replacement of any dishwasher more than one year from date of installation shall not be covered by this warranty. Any and all replaced and/or repaired parts shall assume the identity of the original for purposes of the applicable warranty period. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTIBILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. BOSCH DOES NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
