Honor and Excellence - that is the motto of University of the Philippines. We are taught to have honor and excellence both in academic and non-academic aspect of our student life. We are taught a holistic education. That is why it has become a yearly tradition the most anticipated event, the College of Management Play Festival. This proves that we, the Bluechips, are not only good in numbers but also in the arts, that we are not all about the debits and credits, but also the glitz and glamour, and spotlight. The theme of this years play has something to do about Sukli. In my opinion, the most relatable play was that of Batch Ten Titans, entitled Epilogue. Why? Simply because Im sure that at some point in time, all of us have had our first love. As they say, there is always a first time for everything. The people behind Epilogue did a good job in mirroring reality when it comes to love. Moreover, I admire them because they managed to inject humor in a serious topic. There can be many interpretations with the word Sukli and I think that it is very fitting to apply it with the notion of love. The most important concept that I learned in Epilogue is that in love, there is no certainty. Love can either be reciprocated or not. Love will sometimes be unrequited or other times unconditional. Its all just a matter of choice and having the guts to take risks. Once in our life, we have had an idea that love is like a fairytale, that it is perfect, that is it is like what we see in the movies. We all have expectations but sometimes these are not met. If we get hurt, just remember that its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. The bottom line is that we love and thats all that really matters. In conclusion, I would like to share a quote from Nicholas Sparks book The Best of Me. Love always said more about those who feel it than it did about the ones they loved. Although we may not be sure of the future, do not be afraid to love because it will always be a reflection of ourselves, of who we are.
