For F.A 1-Pride hath a fall

Once, there lived a hare and a tortoise in a jungle. The hare was very proud of his fast speed. He used to laugh at the laziness of the tortoise. One day, the tortoise got angry and challenged him to run a race. On the appointed day, the race started the hare ran as fast as he could and soon he was out of sight. On the way, he decided to take some rest under a cool shady tree and was soon fast asleep. The tortoise could not run fast, but he did not lose heart and walked on towards the goal slowly but steadily. On the way, he saw the hare sleeping but he passed by him silently. At last, having got dead tired, he reached the winning post. In the evening, the hare awoke up. He thought that the tortoise would be far behind. He stated running fast towards the final point. But when he reached over there, he was much ashamed to see the tortoise. He decided not to make fun of tortoise again.

Moral: 1) Slow and steady wins the race. 2) Never make fun of others. 3) Pride hath a fall.

2-A thirsty crow

Once, it was a hot summer noon. A crow felt very thirsty. He flew here and there in search of water but found nothing in the neighbourhood. All of a sudden, he caught sight of a pitcher in a garden. He flew down, removed the lid of the pitcher and tried to drink water. Unfortunately, the pitcher was half full of water and the beak of the crow could not reach the water. The crow did not lose heart. He hit upon a plane. He flew to the nearest mountain and returned with a small pebble in his beak. He dropped it into the pitcher and flew away to bring another. In this way, he dropped many pebbles into the pitcher. Slowly and slowly, the water rose up. The crow quenched his thirst, thanked God and flew away. No doubt, necessity is the mother of all inventions.

Moral: A. Necessity is the mother of all inventions. B. Where there is will there is a way. C. God helps those who help themselves.

3-Greed is a curse
Once, a dog was very hungry. He went to a butchers a shop and stole a piece of meat soon. He ran towards a safe place to eat it. On the way, there was a stream. He began to cross the bridge. In the middle of bridge, he stopped and began to look into the stream. There was his reflection in the water. He took it for another dog with a piece of meat in his mouth. The dog was very greedy. He decided to get that piece of meat also. He began to bark at the dog in the water. But as soon as he opened his mouth, his own piece of meat fell into the water. This made him angrier. He jumped into the water to fight with that dog. As he touched the water, the reflection disappeared. His greed deprived him of a big piece of meat and he had to go back hungry.

Moral:

Greed is a curse.

4-The Slave and the Lion

Once, there was a slave. His master was very cruel. One day, he stole away to a jungle. There he saw a lion who was moaning with pain. The slave decided to run away but he saw the swollen paw of the lion. There was a big thorn in the paw. The slave took heart, went near the lion and took out the thorn. The lion licked his feet and went away. After some months, the slave was arrested. He was sentenced to be thrown before a hungry lion. On the fixed day, the slave was thrown into an arena and a hungry lion was let loose on him. The lion rushed at his prey but the next moment, it began to lick the feet of the slave. Infect, it was the same lion whom the slave had helped in the jungle.

Moral:
1) One good turn deserves another.

2) Do good and have good. 3) Kindness never goes unrewarded.

5-Try, Try Again

Robert Bruce was the king of Scotland. He fought many battles against the English but every time he was defeated. Once, he had to run away for his life. He hid himself in a cave. There, he saw a spider in the cave. It had fallen from its wells. It tried to reach its well but failed. The spider did not lose heart and tried once again but this effort also proved useless. The spider tried to reach the well nine times but every time it failed. The king thought that the spider would try no more. But he surprised to see that the spider was ready to attempt for the tenth tome. This time it succeeded. It gave the king a new hope. He came out of the cave, gathered his army and attacked the English. This time, he succeeded to defeat them.

Moral: 1) Try, try again. 2) No pains, no gains. 3) God helps those who help themselves.

6-Tit for Tat

Once, three friends lived in a village. They were very poor. One day, they decided to set out on a journey to try their luck. They promised to help one and other through thick and thin. On the way, when they were passing through a forest, they saw a bag full of golden coins. They became very happy and decided to divide it equally. They sent one of them to buy some food from the nearest village. The man who went to bring food, thought to kill his friends because he wanted to get all the coins himself. He bought some poison and mixed it into the food of his friends. The other two friends in the jungle were also very greedy and selfish. In the absence of the third one, they also decided to kill him and divide the golden coins equally. As he came back, they attacked and put him to death. Then they ate the poisoned food and died there and then without getting any golden coin.

Moral: 1) Greed is a curse. 2) He who digs a pit for others falls into it himself. 3) As you sow, so shall you reap.

4) Tit for tat. 5) Evil recoils on the head of the evil doer.

7-A Friend in need is a Friend Indeed

Once, two friends lived in a village. They professed great love for each other. They had also sworn to help each other through thick and thin. One day, they set out on a journey. On the way, they had to pass through a forest. When they reached the thickest part of the forest, they saw a bear coming towards them. One of them, at once, jumped up a tree. He forgot his promise to help his friend and left him at the mercy of the beast. The unfortunate friend, having no time to climber up the tree, lay down and holding his breath, pretended to be dead. The bear came near, sniffed him and went back taking him to be dead. When the bear was out of sight, his friend climbed down and asked his friend what the bear was saying in his ear. He said, The bear has told me that I should never trust in a false friend. Saying this, he changed his way. All that glitter is not gold

Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

8-Pride hath a fall

Once, a stag felt thirsty. He went to a stream and began to drink water there. The water in the stream was very clear and the stag saw his reflection in the water. First he looked at his horns. They were beautiful and strong. He forgot his thirst and began to praise them. But when he saw his lean and thin legs, he became very sad. All of a sudden, he heard the voice of hounds. To save his life, he ran as fast as he could. His thin and ugly legs took him away from the hounds. But, unfortunately, his beautiful horns, of which he was very proud, caught in the branches of a tree. He tried his best to get rid of the branches but failed. Soon the hounds reached over there. His beautiful horns brought about his death.

Moral: 1) All that glitter is not gold. 2) Appearances are often deceptive. 3) Pride hath a fall.

9-Honesty is the best policy

Once, a woodcutter was cutting the branches of a tree near the bank of a river. By chance, his axe fell into the river. He began to weep. Suddenly, a god appeared and asked what the matte was. The woodcutter said, My axe fell into the river. I do not know how I will earn my livings without an axe. The god was moved to hear this. He jumped into the river and brought out a golden axe. The woodcutter refused to accept it. The god dived again and brought out a silver axe. The woodcutter refused to accept it also. The god dived for the third time and brought out an iron axe. Here comes mine! the woodcutter cried with joy. The god was very much pleased with the woodcutter at his honesty. He gave him the other two axes also, as a reward for his honesty.

Moral: 1) Honesty is the best policy. 2) Honesty never goes unrewarded.

10-Union is Strength
Once, an old farmer had three sons. They always quarreled among themselves. The old man tried his level best to unite them but in vain. When the old farmer was on his death bed, he called his sons. He had a bundle of sticks with him. He said to his sons, Here is bundle of sticks, try to break it one by one. The youngest brother tried first, but failed. Then the elder brother came forward. He too could not break the bundle. In the end the eldest brother tried to succeed but to no avail. The old man said, Now untie the bundle and try to break the sticks one by one. It was quite easy now. They broke all the sticks one by one. This was the time for old man to advise them. He said, You have seen the sticks were strong when tied together, and weak when they were untied. Similarly, you will be strong when you are united. You will be ruined if you are separated from one another. These words had a good effect on farmers sons. They never quarreled after their fathers death.

Moral: 1) Union is strength. 2) United you stand, divided you fall.
