3.3 Tele-interview
My interview was almost on time (Analyst - HK). The interviewer was a lady from Singapore
HR department, with a strong and non-understandable accent.
Questions:
1. Why Barclays.
2. Example in which you overcomed an obstacle.
3. Example in which you have a new idea.
4. Example in which you enjoy teamwork.
5. Why you can contribute to Barclays
6. What's the plan in 5 years.
7. Since you got so many scholarships, what other activities you have done.
8. Why are you interested in working in HK.
9. Resume questions.
The entire process lasted for about 35 minutes, and the feedback was said to be provided at
the end of this month.
My suggestion:
I feel the HR lady know nothing about trading. When I explained my internship experience,
she was just totally lost, and asked again and again. What the worst, she didn't realise she got lost,
and still thought I spoke not clearly enough. So I suggest not to use too professional examples in
tele-interviews.

The tele-interview lasted 50 minutes and I was really felt terrible at the end of the interviews. The
interviewer has some Singapore Accent, but it seems that he get used to repeat the problems.
I remembered one more question.

Banking industry. Investment Banks want to take advantage of such condition, wins the market
share from competitors, but there is also higher risk of the expanding. In order to help making
right business decisions and moves, IT division is expected to develop very fast responding
applications for analyzing market conditions and for trading, and provide innovative products and
services for customers.
