    0 FOCUS: Instructional Support Accountability Motivation


    INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT 1. Focused Intervention Math & Reading Week before school starts: Aug. 6-10 a. Recruit volunteers. Use Classroom space. b. Jump Start to School year Introduce Assignment Log 2. Study Hall a. Do we need parent volunteers live-scanned for at-home study hall if its mandatory? b. Focus on Tues/Thurs. during season. c. Have a curriculum for students instead of study time? 3. Place 9th & 10th grade students in PE for 8th period (concern w/ loss of instructional time) a. Place 11th grade students in elective coursework for 7th & 8th period. b. KEY Address missed tests/assignment issue. 4. CST Testing/Scores a. Students who are Far Below Basic or Below Basic in either English Language Arts (ELA) or Math start school year receiving targeted tutoring. ACCOUNTABILITY 1. Assignment Log a. 1st Day of School Signed by each teacher w/ clarity about process. 2. Using iSIS Family Module [or PowerSchool or LAUSDMax] a. Give parents on-line access to students grades b. Give HC/Asst HC access to student grades to confirm Assignment Logs i. Be able to offer more support & accountability. [NO editing access just review] c. Train parents how to use iSIS to review daily attendance, grades d. Train students how to use iSIS to check on their grades, missing work, etc. 3. Select Sponsor Teacher for 1st Game: Teacher wears away jersey a. Students identify in the Spring involve in summer intervention b. Honor Teachers (w/ student-athletes) at Varsity Half-time MOTIVATION 1. Student-Athletes write a weekly game summary to submit for extra credit a. Standards based & rubric evaluated. 2. College Tours/Visit: a. Use LAUSD Professional Development days b. Fundraise to rent bus (for USC, UCLA) SCHOOL DATE July 17 Aug. 28 Oct. 23 Nov. 20
