THE PHENOMENON OF OLD RUSSIAN AESTHETIC CONSCIOUSNESS

(summary)
This article draws attention to the main characteristics of Old Russian
aesthetic consciousness: counciliarity, systematicity, marked ethical orientation,
striving after spiritual beauty and the sublime, propensity for unverbalized
creativity. In the artistic sphere these characteristics are expressed in the enhanced
spirituality of art, in its symbolism and canonicity.
