True Version of the Philippine Revolution Public Domain Books 2009 This source was able to give me information of the Filipino Revolution and how it went in the eyes of the leader of the Philippine Revolution. Aguinaldo Captured by Funston. Evening Bulletin 5 Apr 1901, Pg. 1 I used this to find out how America reacted to the capture of Aguinaldo and how the war had been going with the Filipinos. It seemed to also signal how his capture spelled out a near end of the war. Blount, James H. The American Occupation of the Philippines, 1898-1912 New York: Oracle Editions, 1973 This book was originally published in 1912 and was written by a U.S. Volunteer who had served in the Philippines during the insurrection. He described in the book what events took place as America solidified their rule over the Philippines. Burning Monks. This image was able to show how the Americans had the upper hand of the war. Dumindin, Arnaldo. New York Times 5 Feb 1899, Pg. 1 I used this resource to find out how the War began between the Filipinos and the Americans outside Manila and what many Americans thought might come out of the situation. At the Helm of the Nation: Inaugural Addresses of the Presidents of the Philippine Republic and the Commonwealth Manila: National Media Production Center, 1973 I thought that this book was very important in my impact section as the book recorded the Inaugural Addresses of the Presidents of the Commonwealth of the Philippines and the Governor-Generals of the Territory of the Philippines. Each one of the addresses was able to summarize what was going on in the Philippines at that time and what the leaders were hoping to accomplish in office.

The Philippine Revolution Manila: National Historical Commision, 1969 This book was written by the Prime Minister of the Philippines after he was captured by the Americans during the insurrection. The book was valuable as it was able to give his opinion on the American Occupation of the Philippines. "Maine Blown Up." New York Times 16 Feb 1898, Pg. 1 This article was valuable because it displayed how many Americans reacted to the destruction of the Maine in Havana Harbor and who the suspects were of the destruction. "Philippine Rebels Beaten." The New York Times 20 Feb 1897 This article seemed to prove to me that the revolt in a way was failing. In the paper, it had reported that the Spanish forces had inflicted a crushing blow on the rebellion and that they had been victorious. "Philippine Revolt Extending." The New York Times 21 Nov 1896, Pg. 1 This article talked about how the revolt began to spread to other parts of the Philippines and that the supporters of the revolution were getting stronger. I was able to find from this act that the Americans were preparing the Philippines for their independence. This site was able to give me a picture that I used in the Reform page to display Hospitals that would undergo the improvement of the Health system. Sheridan, Richard B. While reading this book, I found the information to be that of an eyewitness as the author was there from the time of the arrival of the American fleet to the first few months of the insurrection. Sotelo, Andrew Personal Interview. 17 Mar 2012 I was very happy to have gotten the chance to interview Mr. Sotelo, who was alive while the commonwealth was ruling over the Philippines and was there when the Philippines became an independent nation. He was able to give me his story on what life was like when the Philippines was granted its independence and what it had been like while a commonwealth. Spanish and American Peace Commission. Mark Twain's Weapons of Satire: Anti-Imperialsist Writings on the Philippine-American War Syracuse University Press In this book, I was able to get the opinion of a very well known supporter of not invading the Philippines, Mark Twain. Many of his articles were mainly making fun of the issues of the war or criticizing what was going on. The Video Encyclopedia of the 21st Century Index/Volume 1 New York CEL Electronic Services 1990 This was used to help me find a clip on troops arriving home from the war. I ended up not using this clip though as it took up too much storage on my website. Willis, Henry P. Our Philippine Problem: A Study of American Colonial Policy New York: Arno Press, The New York Times 1970 Published originally in 1905, I was able to use this book to find graphs that showed that the economy of the Philippines had improved to a certain extent. This book was useful in showing what was going on in the Philippines as it was under the rule of an American government.

Dr. Aquino was very valuable as she gave me much information on what had been going on throughout that time period. She graduated at Cornell University with a PhD. University Microfilms, 1971 This Source did not give me as much information as I thought it might of had. I still found use for two of the chapters as they told me about the economic condition of the Philippines at that time and how it was before Governor Harrison took office. May, Glenn A. Social Engineering in the Philippines: The Aims, Execution, and Impact of American Colonial Policy, 1900-1913 Westport: Greenwood press, 1980 In this book, I was able to find many pictures that displayed some of the things that had changed with the American Occupation of the Philippines. Revell Company, 1932 This source was written mainly about how the Americans and how they had started to consolidate their rule over the Philippines. New York Times. This site was able to give me an image of one of the newspapers displaying the American victory at Manila bay. It was useful because it showed how much this victory meant to America. I was able to use this to gain a broad understanding of the Philippine Insurrection. Thomas, Steven Third Carlist War 2011 Steven Thomas 12 November 2011 <balagan.org.uk/third-carlist-war/index.htm> I used this website to find out about the political turmoil in Spain that it went through before the war.

The Philippine Insurrection 1899-1902: Americas only try for an overseas empire New York: Franklin Watts Inc. 1973 This source was one of the first I was able to find on the Insurrection. I found this source to be very broad as it focused on the the main events. Wukovits, John F. The Spanish American War San Diego: lucent books, 2002 This was one of the first sources that I used for my research. It had many quotes but I found it to be very broad. The U.S.S. Maine Memorial 3 June 2008 Arlington National Cemetery Website Washington Post Company 19 Jan 2012 <arlingtoncemetery.net/ussmaine.htm> This site gave me a somewhat depressing image of the U.S.S. Maine right after its destruction in Havana Harbor. It went along with the section on the American Public and how it led to the War.
