The ETIA (E1/T1 interface unit) prov vides various interfaces for the UPBA to communicate with external devices. It must be used with the UPBA. The ETIA provides TDM and GE inte erfaces to implement the TDM service and signaling processing function.

SWU: Switching Unit Features: The SWU implements data switching among the boards in a subrack through the backplane and data switching among subracks through cascading interfaces provided by the SWIs. Dual Planes Switching: Base Base, Fabric, and TDM

Currently, the MSOFTX3000 provides two types of the SWU that is, SWU0 and SWU1. C l h id s f h SWU, h i d SWU1 The SWU0 provides switching functions only through the Base plane and GE Fabric plane. It is used for broadband networking networking. Based on the SWU0, the SWU1 is added with T TDM switching functions. It can implement the clock distribution among subracks and TDM switching. The SMM SDM SWU Th SMM, SDM, SWU, and SWI are esse ti l b d i each subrack. Th must b d ential boards in h b k They t be configured in active/standby mode. The SMMs are permanently inserted in fro slots 14 and 15 in each subrack; the ont SDMs are permanently inserted in back s slots 14 and 15 in each subrack. The SWUs are permanently inserted in fro slots 6 and 7 in each subrack; the SWIs ont are permanently inserted in back slots 6 a 7 in each subrack. and The OMUs are preferentially installed on the front boards in slots 4 and 5 of subrack 0. The UPBA0 serving as a service process board can be installed in a basic subrack or p g y an expansion subrack. The UPBA0 must be configured in active/standby mode.
