Orphanage children is the kid who is abandoned because of the irresponsible parents or parents died which causing the

children does not receive adequate needs in the spiritual, physical and social aspect. A child grow up normal and healthy in accordance with his genetic potential and intake of nutrients from dietary. This study aims to determine the relationship between daily calorie intake and the nutritional status in children at the Orphanage Mamiyai Al Ittihadiyah, Medan.

This is an analytical study with a crossectional design which consist of a sample of 50 children at the Orphanage Mamiyai Al Ittihadiyah, Medan. The sampling technique is total sampling. Pearson product moment bivariate correlation is used as the data analysis techniques.

Result of this study showed that the average age of the Orphanage Mamiyai Al Ittihadiyah is 10,26 1,78 years. The research also showed that the average daily calorie intake is 1948.2 calories and the average weight is 32.66 2,4 kg at the Orphanage Mamiyai Al Ittihadiyah. The average height of the children at the Orphanage Mamiyai Al Ittihadiyah, Medan is 136,1 3,14 cm. On the one hand, the average nutritional status is 104.74 4,32 which is categorized in the normal range. As a conclusion based on the analysis of two-way Pearson correlation, it was found that there is no daily calorie intake relationship with nutritional status and the level of the relationship is low (r = 0.244, p> 0.05). This study recommends for further assessment of the factors that influence the level of energy and protein consumption with the nutritional status of the children.
