Earth Day Project Rubric The Purpose of Project Protect is to educate others about human impact on the environment

and how we can get involved. Below is the grading rubric for this project. It was designed to ensure that each group provides rich and accurate information to others. E= Excellent (100%)- Work shows mastery of the information, providing the reader with accurate and complete information. G= Good (80%) - Work shows accurate information, with some minor information missing NI= Needs Improvement (70%) Some information is missing, and the group made several mistakes. U= Unsatisfactory (60%)- Group did not follow instructions, did not provide enough information to the reader, or showed little effort when doing the work.

Each group may do make a game for the class, a play, a 3D model or a Power Point Presentation. Group members must also turn in a onepage report on what the environmental problem is, how humans have made a negative impact, two types of scientists who could help, and two ways everyday people can help. o The title of the project with all group members names (10 points) o The environmental problem your group researched (10 points) o Ways humans have made a negative impact on the environment (10 points) o Three types of scientists who study the environment and find ways to protect the environment (include descriptions of each type of scientist) (5 points) o Two ways people can get involved. (10 points) o Bibliography of at least two sources (books, interview, or internet source) o Extra Credit: A summary of what your group wrote in the letter (10 points)
*All completed projects will be due Tuesday, May 2, 2012. Presentations will be on Friday, May 4th.
