Kim has a piece of land beside his house. For many years, people always
threw their garbage there. Kim was very angry. He put up a warning sign, but it
didn’t help. There was still garbage every day. Kim hated his neighbors, and he
never talked to them.
One day, Kim’s father came to stay with him, and things started to change.
HKim’s father cleaned up all the garbage, moved away the sign, and then planted

vegetables on the land. He even gave away the vegetables. After that, there was
Mno garbage on the land any more! Kim was surprised, and he began to help.
aft Now Kim’s neighbors like to come over and work on the land
with Kim and his father. They water the vegetables together,

watch the time. The guard came and said to them, “The train is leaving. Hurry up,
please.” David and his friends heard that. Two of them jumped on to the train
quickly before it moved. But one of them was still standing on the platform. It

was David. He looked sad. The guard came to David and said, “ Don’t worry. The

Hi, Clair,

How have you been? I got to Taiwan one month ago and 5 for

much different food 8 I don’t know how to choose. Now I live
near my school, and there is also a beautiful park around. I enjoy jogging
there every morning.
All in all, I’m really happy to be here. You really should come here and
have a visit some day. See you in September.

Yours,

Chocolate is one of the most popular foods in the world. People eat
chocolate candy, chocolate cake, and chocolate cookies. They also drink hot
chocolate.
Chocolate is made from cocoa beans. In the past, the Mayas and the Aztecs
used them as money because they were small, easy to carry, and not easy to find.
A turkey cost ninety beans and a small rabbit cost thirty beans. They also cooked
the beans and mixed them with water. Sometimes they added corn or hot peppers.
They did not add sugar. The drink was very expensive. Only rich people could
afford it.
