MODERN ASPECTS OF COGNITIVE CYCLE OODA
PhD Milen Ivanov
ABSTRACT: The OODA loop (observe, orient, decide, and act) is a concept originally applied to the
combat operations process, often at the strategic level in military operations. It is now also often applied
to understand commercial operations and learning processes. The concept was developed by military
strategist John Boyd. The model looks like a cybernetic and as they realize the principle of "feedback" in
accordance with that part of the information of the system output is fed back to its input in order to
clarify and if necessary, to adjust the development system of subsequent stages. The primary feature of
future war will be speed. In full accordance with the theories of Boyd, and especially with one of the
directions for the development of this theory - "Planning of Effect-Based Operations), the main task of
the first stroke of each attack will be incapacitation of the management of the state and armed forces.
KEY WORDS: OODA - observe, orient, decide, act; military strategi; decision-making, combat
operations, process, military operations.
