The CLA NOVICE Teacher


1) CLA Years
a) 1-3 years service at Community Leadership Academy b) May serve multiple roles

2) Observations (minimum)
a) Initial observation conducted within first month of employment by Victory Squad b) Formal quarterly observations conducted by administrator c) Monthly observations conducted by instructional coach d) Monthly observations conducted by mentor e) Daily observations conducted by peers, mentors, instructional coaches, consultants and administrator

3) Evaluations (minimum)
a) Initial evaluation conducted within first month of employment collaboratively by Victory Squad b) Formal quarterly evaluations conducted by administrator c) Monthly evaluations conducted by instructional coach d) Monthly evaluations conducted by mentor e) Daily evaluations conducted by peers, mentors, instructional coaches, consultants and administrator

4) Growth Plan
a) Teacher self-assessment completed within first week of employment b) Professional Development Plan developed within first month of employment collaboratively by Victory Squad i) Specific identified standards and elements c) Growth assessed through collaborative evaluations by Victory Squad

5) Professional Growth
a) Site-based development (artifacts) i) CLA Induction ii) Observe CLAs Distinguished teachers iii) Directed common-planning time

6) Performance (minimum)
a) End of year evaluation shows 20% of Teacher Evaluation Standards are Proficient or higher

7) Practices
a) Instructional Planning i) Yearly, Quarterly, Unit-Based & Daily (1) Detailed (2) Evaluated, edited and revised until Accomplished is met (3) Collaborative with Victory Squad b) Grading and Assessment i) Formative and Summative, Curriculum-Embedded and Teacher-Created (1) Specific measurements (2) Collaboratively designed with Victory Squad (3) Evaluated, edited and revised until Accomplished is met (4) Collaboratively graded with Victory Squad (5) Collaboratively reflect with Victory Squad to design intentional next steps (lesson planning, student goals, etc.)

5) Professional Growth
a) Site-based development i) Host CLA Induction workshop(s) ii) Assume an active role in professional growth for CLAs Novice and Career teachers iii) Host CLA professional development workshop(s) (1) Lead staff meetings b) Community-based development
