Abstract
In the past, the Special Problem subject of the Department of
Irrigation Engineering was undertaken in laboratory or demonstrated by
a case study. The achievement of the subject was practically less

applied on community. Therefore, in the second semester of 2010, the


first attempt of applying the Problem-Community Based Learning
(PCBL) in the classroom was undertaken with a number of 16 junior
and senior students. The problem assigned was water management on
Lak Metre Village, Tambon Thung Kwang, Kamphaeng Saen District,
Nakhon Pathom Province. Process of PCBL consists of (1) collecting
relevant data such as water resources, existing land use and agricultural
system; (2) defining problem happening; (3) designing the problem
investigation; and (4) finding initial solution and providing suggestions
in order to distribute to the communities. It was found that the problems
were rather under the communitiesr attention. Moreover, the PCBL
provided appropriate community problem learning and resulted in the
studentsr self-confidence and expressiveness for the students. The
contribution of the learning process could be further undertaken as the
studentsr senior Engineering Project subject.
